Question for the ten or so of you that post here regularly. Who is your favorite player to watch and why is it Carlos?
TBH, I haven't seen enough of the kid yet. It often takes me a couple months to figure WTF you guys are talking about sometimes. But with the French coming up, I figure it won't be much longer before I'm caught up. For me, it's probably Zverev or Tsitsipas - those guys are just the greates... sorry, I can't keep typing that with a straight face. I know it's still April 1st in parts of the US but that's just mean of me. Maybe FAA or even Medvedev, just for his continual fight. Probably too many in the women's to name - Naomi, Iga, Crazy Collins, Emma, Simona, obviously Giorgi...
Carlos is awesome. Hate to say it but I just love the Russian’s fight, both Daniil and Andrey. The American underdogs, you always have to love, especially Tiafoe. Don’t get me started on the women… they are all so great, women's tennis is where it’s at. Too many good players.
I like defense so Monfils is fun with his athleticism. Thiem is awesome when he’s just cranking the ball. Alcaraz is obviously great. Rublev is awesome to see, especially live, with how hard he swings on every stroke from such a slight frame. From the Americans, I’ve really been enjoying watching Fritz and Brooksby lately.
I love the womens, all the womens. But seriously, Carlos was the first dude who excited me since Daniil’s rise and not even sure who was before that. Maybe Chung for a month?
Just a routine match with the number 2 ranked player taking out the number 77 ranked player 6-4, 6-0.
Alcaraz is such an elite big point player at his age, breaks Ruud at 5-5 in the first and he’ll serve for it.
Will Smith fan? Seriously though, I think people underestimate the influence that douchebag has on the younger generation - I can see a lot of them resorting to violence like this to resolve difficult issues going forward. Needs to be stamped out without hesitation - that is simply not acceptable in any way.
Pretty crazy day for Holger rune today Won the challenger finals in 3 sets this morning in Sanremo, Italy. Now playing qualifier match in Monte Carlo
The Challenger match started at 5:15 AM ET. Lasted 1:59 minutes. Hes now up 3-1 in the 1st Set in Monte Carlo
Just saw a random womens “ranking” that I would have never guessed in 100 tries. Bencic faces Jabeur today in Charleston for the final. Jabeur is the tenth ranked women in the world.
Yeah, as good and strong as the women's competition is right now, their ranking system is up the creek and there's a few players in the Top 10 that maybe shouldn't be there yet.
Novak down a set and a break to Fokina, who appears to be trying to will Novak back into the match. Just playing dumb tennis.
Clijsters retires from tennis again. I guess she can go back to bashing the modern day players that don't live up to her expectations.
Bublik is hysterical. Does not want to play clay and he was serving for the match against PCB. His interview the other day was hysterical
Thiem going point for point with John Millman in his clay return is depressing. Big finish coming up here.
Seems the latest is that Wimbledon IS going to ban all Russians & Belarusians this year. Not sure how I feel about that, considering it's not the individuals' fault their fuckhead leader invaded another country. But I'm in favour of anything that helps Ukraine, so, umm, sorry Daniil.
I like the idea but that’s not higher level thinking. I disagree with punishing the athletes or potentially having their families jailed/murdered. On the other hand, I also realize there are no easy answers here and she’s coming from a place where her friends and family are being murdered.
Yeah I don't like the idea of some public loyalty test for Russian athletes, especially since so many have already voiced strong public opposition to what's going on. I believe Kostyuk's mom is with her on tour but the rest of the family is still in Ukraine. Can't imagine how tough that is to balance while playing pro tennis or just living day to day.
