Thanks for posting the contract numbers, and clearing that up. The signing was whatever, there’s a ton of questionable people that we root for in sports for our teams. That contract seemed vile as fuck though and an organization manipulating the contract for a questionable dude didn’t sit well with me.
End of the day the NFL is a shit organization. If it wasn't the Browns there were 4? other teams in line and if it was a different year there would 5-6 completely different teams in line. I respect anyone who doesn't want to be a fan anymore but imo you might as well stop watching the NFL period because it is not a Browns problem it's a league problem. Unfortunately I have very few things I enjoy in life and watching the NFL is one of them.
The initial number of teams who contacted the Texans expressing interest in Watson was 13. I’m sure you can add in a few more who would have been involved if they didn’t have a franchise guy. That’s half the league.
My wife and I can’t talk about it yet because I’m so mad about it she doesn’t want to have to take the less extreme side…nor agree with me and send us both down a pissed off spiral that will lead to no good.
Similar. I was pissed off and ranting about being embarrassed of the franchise and explained why and she had no follow up comments or questions. Though she’s not really a fan
Oh my wife is actually Bengals fan but she’ll get on board with the Browns when I’m rolling them. This year I had to go “her” way.
Going to be fascinating to see how Stefanski builds the offense around Watson. The Shanahan scheme Stefanski runs typically makes it easier and less stressful on the QB. With someone like Watson that is obviously not necessary. In 2020 the Browns ran 57% of their plays under center vs Houston at only 18% (https://www.sharpfootballstats.com/snap-rates--shotgun-v-under-center--off-.html) Clemson fans can correct me but from what I remember didn't Watson essentially only line up in shotgun? I think Sefanski keeps the structure of the offense the same and the running game focus remains. The OL and RB rooms make that an obvious choice. Next year's offense will see a greater emphasis on throwing the ball down the field. Lots of off tackle PA boots where Watson turns his back to the defense and Cooper, DPJ, and Gonzalez are streaking down the field. It's going to be a fun offense to watch.
I don't blame anyone who uses this as a reason to get off the train. I'm still rooting for the team because I've been so deeply invested for such a long time. I still root for them but I don't love the team the same anymore. I won't be buying any merch or anything like that any time soon. There's a level of willful ignorance threshold you agree to take on as a fan of a professional sports team and I don't blame anyone if this crosses that threshold. I'm curious how the Kobe Bryant and Big Ben scenarios would have played out in a social media era.
I’m not sad about it because I rooted for the Browns thinking they were a morally superior organization or something. I’m not sad because I think the Browns are morally worse than many other NFL organizations. I’m not looking to find another NFL team to root for. I’m not sad because I had some silly pretense that the NFL actually cared about women. I’m sad because the Browns, the team I do root for, have a guy accused of sexually assaulting 22 women as their QB and face of the franchise and that makes cheering for them with as much vigor and joy hard. I imagine it’s going to be a lot harder to cheer really loud and get super pumped when Deshaun Watson throws a touchdown pass or makes a big play helping the Browns win because I so vehemently abhor what he has been alleged to have done. I wish they had a different guy at QB who hadn’t been accused of all that. I’m just sad that it is going to take away from the joy I should have when the Browns make a big play on offense or lead a game winning drive. I want to have unbridled joy at that point. I can’t imagine that being the case right now. I’m not trying to “get off the train”. I don’t want to not be a Browns fan. I don’t want to be a fan of another NFL team. I just want to be able to throw all of my fandom full force into supporting the Browns, and I don’t see an easy way for that to happen now. And it makes me sad.
This was posted in my local browns backers Facebook group, take it for what it is: https://www.documentcloud.org/docum...uARGpwz3uIg5M9pDeiQFOrG63nJX0v-RrjtOKyDoNdZ5c
We've all been rooting for Kareem Hunt and the Browns despite the fact that he is on video beating a women, correct?
Didnt the girl call Kareem the n word with the hard r? Not that it makes what he did right, but I know when I've been called that there are a range of emotions you go through in an instant.
I don't know. Would that justify him beating her? Might possibly some of the girls accusing Watson been OK with his sexual advances in the moment? Does that justify anything?
Pick 44 Big Board (assuming Clowney is back and they pick up another WR in FA): 1a. Devonte Wyatt 1b. Travis Jones 2. Christian Harris 3. Lewis Cine 4. Christian Watson 5. Skyy Moore
I dont think that he beat her, but I've seen multiple people get knocked out when I was in high school and college after they called another black person the N word.
Did my first mock draft today... 44: R2 P12 LB Nakobe Dean - Georgia 78: R3 P14 WR George Pickens - Georgia 99: R3 P35 DL Perrion Winfrey - Oklahoma 118: R4 P13 WR David Bell - Purdue 202: R6 P23 TE Jalen Wydermyer - Texas A&M 223: R7 P2 P Cameron Dicker - Texas 246: R7 P25 LB Micah McFadden - Indiana No way Dean falls to 44 but it'd be fun if he did
agree. the DE/DL FAs are really slim pickins. I was listening to Jake Burns' podcast yesterday and I think he listed basically 6 guys who are worth a hoot on the DL, the rest being nothing more than depth pieces. the ones i can remember... Clowney Calais Campbell Akiem Hicks Eddie Goldman Justin Houston Jerry Hughes
I'd love to get Hicks and Clowney. Think they'll have to get off of Baker before they do anything like that though.
Baker won't be on the roster...probably traded around draft day. Watson, Brissett and Dobbs on the practice squad is probably how we go into the season IMO.
Nailor is a solid late round pickup. Ross is too injury prone for me, already too much of that shit on this roster Really hope a top line WR falls to 44 though
