    Galaxy brain experiment:

Write SWIMS on a piece of paper.

If you make it "upside down" by rotating the paper 180 degrees, it's still SWIMS.

If you make it "upside down" by flipping the paper horizontally and reading the image from the back, not so much.

The nucleus of an atom is profoundly small compared to the electron shells surrounding it.

If the electron shell of a hydrogen atom was the size of a football field, the nucleus in the middle would be the size of a pea resting on the 50 yard line.

"Atomic nucleus weighs as much as a stadium

Really! If an atom was the size of a stadium the nucleus would be the size of a pea and it would weigh as much as the stadium. Atoms are about 100,000 times bigger than their nucleus, and nearly all the mass of an atom is in its nucleus--yet almost all the space in an atom is occupied by its electrons....

The temperature of a collection of atoms, by the way, is a measure of the motion of those atoms. As the temperature increases, the kinetic energy of the particles increases, and their speed increases. At room temperature, atoms in air move at an average speed of about 1100 mph, and undergo 5 collisions every nanosecond."

George Washington is actually our 8th president.

Our first president was John Hanson who was elected to the first presidency by delegates from all thirteen original English colonies. His term began on 5 November 1781-the date the colonies became a nation under international law. ies, there still was no formal government to lead the thirteen independent states.

Taffy - what type of nonsense is this?

"According to British law, any unclaimed swan swimming in the open waters of England and Wales belongs to the Queen. The law originated in medieval times when swans were a delicacy for the wealthy, but it still stands today. Queen Elizabeth II also upholds a centuries-old tradition with the swans: Every year during the third week of July, all the swans in the River Thames are counted for the Queen in a practice called "Swan Upping."

When Europeans arrived in North America they wrote about how great looking and well built the natives were.

Native Americans were healthier and had better diets than the euros.

Also the Osage men were all super tall, the tallest got to bang pretty much every Osage chick in order to ensure tall offspring.

Wilmer McLean holds a strange spot in American history. In an odd twist of fate, the Civil War began in his backyard and ended in his parlor.

McLean's farm was on the Manassas Battlefield at the start of the Civil War. Lee surrendered to Grant at Appomattox Court House in McLean's parlor.

Reading about native Americans and how early settlers often decided to just go live with them is very sad when we ended up just genociding them. Their life seemed decent.

Over 90% of them died by disease after first contact with Europeans. If they hadn't lived such a clean life compared to Euro's (their immune system was more well suited to fight parasites than bacteria) there's no way the early settlers would've been able to do what they did.
