“Storming that machine gun nest isn’t hard! I get another 100 men to do it with the snap of a finger. And a 100 more after them. You know who has a really hard job? Me. I have to order all of those men to their certain deaths!” - General Whammy during WWII, probably
Right every rich person has the same story of doing it on their own. It's a meme. It's the big lie they all have to prop up. But again why do we see disproportionate representation? All signs point to extreme advantages being necessary
The "American Dream" is a myth. "Work hard and you can be anything you want to be!" What part don't you grasp?
I don’t know. How many had parents that served on charitable boards with an executive at IBM that was sourcing OSes for their launch of the PC?
You post in generalities and unprovable/immeasurable statements that aren't really worth my time responding to.
But here you are. Do you have anything other than quotes from musk himself talking about how poor he was?
But it wasn't, which is the entire point of this conversation. Thanks for clarifying. I agree with what you said but still think you all are misinterpreting user's point about angel investors. Or at least my opinion is that almost every company has needed an angel investor or funding. You need VCs in today's world to chase the American Dream. I thought that was pretty clear-cut, but it apparently isn't. Please name a startup that hasn't had investors. StockX has if I remember correctly. PSA just took money from Kevin Durant. Sony just paid $2 billion to Fortnite.
Derp. How many people have a dad named Bill Gates Sr. who had sex with a woman named Mary Gates? Are you looking for some concession that like every founder turned billionaire ever probably needed an introduction of some sort or a lucky break along the way? Because man have I got great news for you: consider that point conceded. If only you had that introduction or lucky break, you too could've been Bill Gates!
Or maybe we do and that’s exactly why we’re pissed. Have you ever considered the possibility that you’re the mark?
His mom is in on this conspiracy lie too huh? The better question is do you have anything to the contrary besides pure speculation? Because if not, it's an entirely worthless back and forth. You think he and his mom are lying and have no evidence to support your position. Cool.
Of course you need investors. Getting investors is much easier when you come from money bc you have access to people with money. This isn't complicated.
I don't come from money. I've started and helped scale several businesses. I know how funding works. Having friends and connections with money helps. That's called networking.
most of it stems from the fact that it's much easier to take risks in life when you've got daddy's money to fall back on if you fail.
Here's another crazy thought: when you found companies that people and the market value, it's pretty easy to fund raise. Wild how that works.
Someone quote this so user15000 will see it. “We were very wealthy,” says Errol. “We had so much money at times we couldn't even close our safe.” https://www.businessinsider.com/elo...-the-familys-casual-attitude-to-wealth-2018-2
So then wtf are we talking about b/c I just said "I don't come from money" Yet here we fucking are again with this broken record.
Lol. Do you prefer to call FOUNDERS of businesses something else? We're kind of talking about people who found businesses that end up being worth billions of dollars. The phrase is necessary to the conversation.
It ain’t just luck though. It’s specifically the wealthy looking out for themselves that leads to this shit over and over again. The game is fucking rigged. It isn’t about merit or genius. Like at all.
Commercial break. Ainsley Earhardt is interviewing Joel Osteen which you can see right now at a discounted monthly plan if you call soon.
Now the international federation of Christian’s and Jews want you to donate $45 to save Ukrainian Jews. protectjews.org
User who claims he didn't get any help from his dad believes Musk didn't get any help from his dad. We had the same conversation with a user who inherited $5m who got no help along the way either, a week ago. It's the same story over and over
And crying about it like a little bitch on here is really going to solve this warfare that's been going on for ages calm down
Maybe we should kill FIAT and attack the other class by adopting some other currency or way of doing business.... you fucking idiots
Hell of a pessimistic way to go through life, but good luck i suppose. I think the game is largely rigged for other reasons (see: the wealth of anyone holding assets during the last 2 years), but the ability to start companies and get access to capital for successful companies is pretty far down the list. And yes I recognize the enormous benefit of not having to worry about failing if you come from money.
