Played 9 with my 8 year old yesterday and he said it was his last round on the third hole. Drove the green nearly on a par 4 from the kids tees on 7 and now can’t wait to get back. #oneofus
It is an extremely interesting story and he was a lot of fun to watch. Go rewatch his 11 birdie round at Augusta.
Played preserve twice and then bear Sunday morning. Was a bigger fan of preserve but it also wasn’t a Sunday morning round in biloxi
Update on helping the friend getting a new bag. He ultimately balked at the initial 1500 price tag and pissed me off. So we found a solution. He purchased a new Taylormade bag and put his old shitty clubs in them. He then replaced his driver with a sim hand me down from another friend(although said person sold him an 8*) and then picked up a an all black spider mallet from laster year. I added in an off brand lob wedge since I’ve done it for two other friends, seemed only fair. Only reason I mention this is we went golfing today and after the round he’s hooked. Asked if next time I go to Vegas can he come so we can play wolf creek.
The Fujikura Atmos TS 6x I ordered came in yesterday. The difference is unreal. Why didn’t anyone tell me? Spoiler literally everyone has been telling me
Worked with Rudy Duran 1 on 1 yesterday. I went over the swing flaws other teachers had identified over the past couple of years and the drills they were having me do. He said, “With your swing and the shots you hit, you should be a plus handicap. I work with a lot of people who would kill to have your ability but would also kick your ass all over the course right now. You basically have an Indy car, but you’re a terrible driver. There’s zero reason to worry about tires, suspension, engine tweaks, etc when you just drive it into the wall every time you get in. We need to get you to a point where you aren’t a danger to yourself and others.” Started off with him call out random fades/draws at the top of my backswing. He then made me hit low 150 yard hooks with a 6 iron using a full swing. Extremely difficult for me. 200 yard sweeping hooks with drives. Also tough. Homework is to intentionally work every shot on the course. Similar stuff during an hour and a half short game session. Very visual and feel focused. Going to stick with him Wrote this out because I think it’s what I needed as someone who’s been obsessing over perfect ball striking and mechanics but sucking. Thought some of you may find it interesting
I get that it’s a stated parody but the thought of a grown man creating a Twitter account to pretend to be a small child is
What the hell is your game even like if you're a 10 handicap and a coaches advice to you is to practice working the ball more than a PGA Tour pro?
Would be a huge story for Spieth to get his first win in a while? Would probably lock him up to return next year and he’s a big draw
I get where you’re coming from, but it’s not like he’s asking me to work every shot during a competitive round or to deploy that as an every day strategy. It’s a tool to break my current overly rigid and mechanical mind funk, which I complained about. I didn’t think it was that controversial. Style is kind of an Adam Young / Joseph Parent blend
not questioning the advice (what the fuck do I know) just genuinely curious - sounds like you’ve got a great swing - you went to a world renowned coach who saw you swing and was like “work on shot making swing looks great you should be better than scratch” - how are you a 10? like do you just blast it OB 5 times a round but otherwise play scratch golf?
Straddling the line of ball flight is what got him I believe. One foot on either side. https://www.golfdigest.com/story/dylan-frittelli-rbc-hertitage-rules-penalty-spanish-moss
