There’s been some talk that he might be in one of the HBO Max shows which is said to be year one of Batman.
legit, the people that don’t like this kind of tell me they A) don’t love amazing cinematography and/or score B) don’t read graphic novels about Batman. It legit has a chance to go down as the best interpretation of the character in the best graphic novels.
poorly phrased way of saying ‘if you don’t like the film I don’t know what you want out of the Batman as a character.’ At that point it’s not your cup of tea.
Finally saw this. When I saw the commercials for it, I thought it was going to be awful and actually laughed at it however It was awesome. It was long as shit, but I never got bored and hoped it would end. I don’t have any complaints and really can’t think of anything I’d change
Watching it now. NGL, I was proud of myself for figuring out one of the riddle's on my own before they said the answer. Spoiler The orphan riddle
Just watched. 1. I very much enjoyed it. 2. It almost seemed like they tried to cram too much into it.
Enjoyed the first half, had to cut it to go to bed, gonna finish tonight. big fan of detective Batman.
Could they have trimmed a few minutes here and there? Sure. You could probably shave a few minutes of the Catwoman/Anaka subplot, but you can't 86 the whole thing because you need the Catwoman/Falcone subplot it's connected to, and their confrontation at the end. Without that, Selina has no real purpose in the story. Really the only thing I would have done differently, editing-wise, would be to move the Joker/Riddler scene to the mid-credits. Its placement really killed the momentum leading up to the final shot of the movie.
They tested it during the credits/after but apparently people scored it better in the film. I agree with you though.
Really noticed how methodical Batman moves (when not fighting). It’s a character choice, yes, but also just fits the noir pace of the whole thing. Ex: when he reaches in the Bat cage for the clue. Takes like 15 seconds when could have been 5. I love it. the short special features are great too.
Not sure if it’s been discussed but do we just assume he trained with the league of shadows and came back like in Batman Returns or is there another way he learned to fight?
It's like the animated or pre-Nolan Batman movies where it's just assumed he learned somewhere and lets the viewer craft wherever that somewhere was since it's not really integral to the story.
I'm guessing it's just assumed. But they skipped over the whole origin since he's already in year 2. It seems he already has a bit of history. It's definitely implied the Joker and him have already tangled at least once.
Dark Knight Rises way too high. I know I'm in the minority but I would have the Batman at #1. It's just everything I ever wanted out of a Batman film. Still love TDK and Begins but they honestly feel a little dated in retrospect. Good stories but I never liked the world in those. Gotham basically being Chicago was always kind of boring to me.
The Batman is my new #1. Totally agree on Nolan’s Gotham. He got lazy. Begins had a good Gotham feeling with the Narrows but then ya it went all Chicago/Pittsburg.
The Dark Knight stays #1 for me based solely on its quality as a movie, not necessarily as a Batman movie. Nolan's movies are just really great Nolan movies first and really good Batman movies second. The Dark Knight The Batman Batman: Mask of the Phantasm Batman Begins Batman 89 Batman 66 LEGO Batman The Dark Knight Rises Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Batman Returns Batman Forever Batman & Robin 13-whatever. The rest
the Batman animated movies are the best thing DC does. The best ones are outstanding (I’m talking a 9 of 10 level of good) and the bad ones are still better than 75% of the stuff DC puts out. Do yourself a favor and start watching them.
They are hit and miss. I didn't like Shitty AMC Show Joke very much at all. Hated the changes. But the Long Halloween was great.
That list is kind of garbage is they are going to include only 2 animated movie. You can basically get rid of 1/2 of them if you really want to include animated ones without including them just to say you did.
I didn’t either, but The Long Halloween is fantastic, under the red hood is good, return of the joker, Gotham by gaslight, etc. I enjoyed way more than many of them on the list.
Most of the animated movies are great. A few changes in shitty amc joke and Hush I didn't care for. I’ve watched Red Hood too many times to count.
Watched it last night, and felt it was comfortably the best Batman movie ever made for me. Really really enjoyed it.
I like most of the animated output, but other than a few, the animation is stilted and looks like it was made with a fraction of the budget needed to execute the director's vision.
This was good? I've always been hesitant to. pull the trigger on watching it because the premise seemed so out there.
