If I read right, the 4th official was a USL 2 official and allowed a “5 minute head injury sub” which is allowed in USL 2 but not the open cup.
1. Our opponent doesn’t have a shirt sponsor 2. Apparently they play at a venue I can walk to from my house 3. I saw someone wearing a Millwall scarf
No, Rising scored the winner very deep into ET. In 2018 we were drawn away to a semi pro AZ side that we played at a community college “field” with no actual seats. Ended up losing on pens. That was an embarrassing match walking out of. So this would not have been unprecedented.
Looks like the top 4 from each MLS conference last year don’t play till next round. I figured they didn’t want KC to embarrass themselves vs a USL squad so they kept them out of the tourney.
Birmingham Legion looking weak against Tormenta in the first half. Blew our only opportunities but also gave up two off or immediately following corners. This loss would have to put someone on the hot seat.
Going to our match vs. New Mexico tomorrow. One of the things I really enjoy about the Open Cup is seeing other teams from other leagues, be it lower or MLS. Instead we get to face the same opponent we played in the league, at home, literally last Saturday.
hell yeah poor danny t releases a video today on the "magic of the open cup" and this happens to his boys
Rising up 1-0 on New Mexico at the half. Pretty shit crowd here but they were charging normal match prices and we just played them on Saturday.
Sounds like they’ll be doing this for Wednesdays games but not Tuesdays. Still pretty cool, not often do we try to make soccer viewing easy or enjoyable in this country.
wish they'd do it tonight instead guess I'm all in on (yet again) retaining this crown now since it's looking unlikely Atlanta's a legit contender for other hardware this year
