rv12 congrats on killing a 75 year old man I hope you’re proud. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. If not for my back I’d have gotten you.
mondays ride will be 400 if I do rides and cool downs this weekend so maybe bae will give a shout out
i should be on that ride if I’m not hungover. My son is having an Easter egg hunt and wants to grill at his place so I want to do it but probably won’t go ham. I thought you were gonna beat my PR for a 30 minute ride. I know I was running more back then and that probably helped but I can’t believe I hit some of numbers I did back then.
if anyone else wants to join - doing this live class with Emma at 5 pm EST for ride 400 and to beat Daniel Ocean again. https://members.onepeloton.com/clas...odal&classId=dc9183de4f584459baf833c4af03b004
I’m somewhat hungover just barely woke up and currently eating “breakfast” at noon lol. If I ride imma survive at best. As long as my food digests properly I’ll be there.
I'm getting stuck on some work later than I had wanted so I won't be there. I'll have to find another to try and get that emma shout out.
this is a sign that I should take a shower and nurse this hangover. Did a yoga class and went to Costco that’s more productive than I expected to be today. I’ll take this class tomorrow.
Fuck on second thought a good sweat is probably what I need right now. Sweat shower then PS5 and some leftover carne from yesterday
just did bae’s 20 min hip hop live for 400. No shout out but new PR. I scrolled to the top to see what top outputs were and this guy had a total output of 1,006. Average resistance of 100 with 68 cadence for the whole ride. I don’t understand
That has to be a bike issue. I don't think its physically possible to hold actual 100 resistance at a high 60s cadence more than maybe 30-60 seconds I once did a ride at a hotel and I'm ashamed that its my current PR, but I was in the 80s resistance most of the class and it felt like what 50s resistance feels like on my bike at home
Hotel bikes being poorly calibrated must be a thing. I remember reading this article on Rory Mcilroy saying his crazy PR was related to a juiced hotel bike. its still crazy to me that he says he can do 90 cadence/50 resistance for 45 minutes straight though https://www.golfdigest.com/story/pl...ly-good-peloton-cyclist-a-monster-on-the-bike
LOL. If he could actually sustain 354 watts for 45 minutes as a relatively untrained cyclist then he’d actually be professional in his second best sport. He’s not a big guy so he’d be at or above 5w/kg untrained. Not a chance.
I remember before I decided on the +, it was said that the resistance automatically goes up or down with the class how does that work? If the instructor says 45-60 resistance what does it go to? I enjoy messing it with myself, not sure I would like the +
Click the lock icon next to the resistance. if you start in between the 2 numbers, it’ll keep you in the middle each time you add/subtract. Likewise If you start closer to the min/max. It’s pretty nice.
How much output should I be going for right now my daily goal is 400+ a day, 7 days a week although weekends I’ve been more so around 300
im confused by your question since output is highly dependent on class. A higher intensity class will yield a higher output. Even a longer lower intensity class will give you a higher output. I say do your best each class and don’t worry about the numbers too much. I try and maintain a 3 minute mile unless it’s a low impact or recovery ride. Trying to do that keeps me at decent numbers. Don’t forget to rest, stretch, hydrate and if you have to ride every day throw in some low impact and or recovery rides.
I was just wanting to see what people daily outputs are. I feel I had a successful day of riding when I’m over 400, anything less I say that’s better than nothing. But it’s just arbitrary numbers I’m striving for in my head
How long are you riding a day? I do something similar but it’s monthly combined miles (running and cycling) I also join as many challenges as I can to keep me motivated.
im more about trying to get 30-40 minutes in rather than output. I wish there were more long lane break rides. It’s really nice with just the music and no real attention to output.
400 for a 30 minute ride seems high for a 60 minute one seems low and for a 45 seems perfect. I try to get around “10” per minute. But, honestly do what works for you and keeps you motivated.
They probably aren’t. Mine aren’t that high, but that’s likely due to being a lighter / smaller guy. My heavier and taller friend crushes my output but I would kill him on any trail run or hike. Output has a lot do with your height and weight. That doesn’t mean people crushing it at the top of the leaderboard (or in this thread) can’t be smaller guys in amazing shape. But just for perspective
I’ve always wondered this. I’m by no means in great shape, but I can’t sniff some of the output figures posted in this thread and in the TMB group. I always hoped that was just because I’m only around 155-160lbs. Why can’t peloton come up with a metric that will correct for weight and allow an even comparison?
Shit I don’t even know what to ask. Did my first ride with Sam Yo and it kicked my ass. Now time for some Weller 107
I was talking with my wife about it last night, the rides say to use the same cadence/resistance no matter that I’m 6’1 250 and she’s 5’3 whatever. Of course our outputs will be different.
It exists. The gold standard metric for cycling proficiency is w/kg, or FTP measured in watts divided by weight in kilograms. Peloton could very easily add an option to display the leaderboard in w/kg and they should as it would make everything far more egalitarian between riders of different size and gender.
back when i was working towards being in shape and riding consistently, i went all out for a 45 min ride for my 100th ride i don't think my bike was juiced in any way. i also rarely rode 45 min rides + was in good not great shape + had only gotten into shape for basically the summer. in other words, i was a long way off from pro athlete - even golfer - fitness levels. if i could get close to that 50%/90 rpm number (though i guess it's debatable how close i was), i am certain rory could easily edit, another one closer to that cadence/resistance this is motivating as hell to look at these old scores
I've been injured and haven't been able to ride at all this month and I miss it. I was really planning to attack my PRs this summer. I think I just hit a new one for 15 or 20 so was going to try to get my avg for each time over 200 watts and now probably won't get back into it for another month. Sucks but guess there will be a lot of good rides to catch up on.
Same here. I injured my lower back and haven’t been able to ride for 3 weeks. I get a little sad every time I walk past my bike. Probably another week away before riding and it’ll be low impact for a while.
First and foremost thank you rv12 you been giving hella inspiration and motivation lately. Secondly man fuck you seriously fuck you. I mean how the fuck I literally killed myself and nope.
which gives you a higher output? Two people at 50 resistance and 80 cadence one weighs 200 the other 180 which theoretically has the better output?
I’m not an expert so could be wrong but The 180lb would be the stronger rider bc he weighs less, all things being equal. On Peloton theyre equal bc the output is the same but in real life the 180lb person is stronger with a higher watt per kilo than the 200 lb rider bc he weighs less.
Best output on a 30 minute ride since November just now. Beat my best 2022 score by 25 kj. Gonna have a beer now
No doubt. There’s really no perfect solution other than just not worrying too much about where one falls on the leaderboard.
Agreed. Easy said than done. I'm Uber competitive and have gotten more so the better I've got. So easy recovery rides usually end up not being a recovery ride, especially in a session. But really just getting new PRs is an accomplishment.
