Not for Bryant, but ultimately at some point you’re either going to have to overpay FA’s to come to Seattle or be willing to part with top prospects to get the top-tier guys. Maybe I’m just shellshocked after years and years of failed prospects, but I don’t like having to rely so heavily on all these young guys to take big steps forward.
Seems like the most active Seattle thread so will post here. Just booked house and flight for last week of June, catching a game on the 27th. What are can’t miss items for a week in Seattle? This is where we are staying and we are trying not to rent a car and just rely on walking, public transportation, and a handful of Uber/Lyft rides. Fancy has already given me the definitive list but also want to see what the still locals say. Likes: food, craft beer (IPAs, wild ales, saisons), live music, coffee, outdoors Blue dot shows where we are staying.
Eater Seattle is awesome and always has new articles: https://seattle.eater.com/ Fremont/Ballard are probably the most popular neighborhoods. Tons of great food and bars/breweries. You're close to the International District (Chinatown), which has some AMAZING restaurants, but can also be super sketchy. I wouldn't go past like 8-9 PM. Damn the Weather is one of my favorite watering holes, in Pioneer Square -- owned by an original member of the Fleet Foxes. Cloudburst is my favorite brewery and won best small brewery in the USA (2021). I live in the South/West Seattle. Future Primitive is another great brewery right next to me, would meet you there for a beer () There are a lot of awesome waterside parks to walk -- Olympic Sculpture Park, Lincoln Park. FYI - Ubers are expensive AF, it may be in your best interest to get on Turo and find a rental. I currently don't have a car but am considering buying one based on the $50 ubers into downtown/Ballard. Two of my favorite itineraries when I have friends visiting: Pike Place tour - Mee Sum pastry, other finger foods -- walk to Cloudburst, walk to Olympic Sculpture Park -- all within like 1 mile of each other Fremont brewery --> walk to Gas Works Park. Either go to Un Bien and get a sandwich to go, or have them deliver one to Fremont. Best sandwich in the city and it lives up to the hype: https://www.theinfatuation.com/seattle/reviews/un-bien
If you want to do some hiking, there are some options within like 30 min - 1 hour of the city. Not too far at all to get into the mountains. Just depends on what difficulty level you're looking for.
Woodinville has an awesome wine tasting district if you want to go out to the burbs, and Chateau St. Michelle has a great concert venue there. Woodinville Bourbon is across the street and Red Hook has a cool tour right there too.
I will see if I can shake free and meet for a beer or 10. My wife’s 40th and my son’s 2nd birthday both occur during this trip and we are traveling with our toddler and my wife’s 2 BFFs, which happen to pretty much be my 2 BFFs as well. They are basically sisters. All that to basically say this trip is more about all of them than me but I am sure I can work something out.
Not sure if there is a Seattle thread so I’ll post in here https://theinfiniteexperience.world/ this is coming to Seattle next month. Virtual reality on the space station. I went last week here in Houston and it was legitimately one of the cooler things I’ve ever done. 100% recommend
I’m not there yet but I’m moreso just hoping for a league average player at this point. Our pitching staff looks solid at least. Gonna need to win a bunch of 2-1 and 3-2 games. Same old M’s.
About to sweep the rangers after taking 2 of 3 from Houston. Should win the next series vs KC Really good start -- heading to the game tomorrow night.
Nah the rangers have an all time bad pitching staff tbh I’d rather be an m’s fan. I can tell you it’s much better be apathetic about your team than see your team blow it’s only chance at a ws in the most heartbreaking way possible
Since this post, Kelenic has gone 6-48 with 21 Ks. On a team that could be a game or two in or out of the playoffs, it’s time to send him down. Giving him further at bats is detrimental to the team. He’s struck out in more than 40%(!) of his ABs this year. I’d rather see Steven Souza or Billy Hamilton than Kelenic.
I mean, if the rest of the year goes like this, do Servais and Jerry survive it? This was supposed to be the year to start contending for something more, not more of the same. It also makes me that much more angry they didn’t do more this offseason to augment the roster.
