This walker stuff is so weird to me if you’re drafting for potential why not draft thibodeaux #1 overall he had better stats and has more potential
My favorite explanation about the Thibodeaux stuff is on The Athletic NFL show, Mays has alluded multiple times to basically everyone just thinking Kayvon is an asshole and doesn’t want to be around him. I kind of envision that like a Dwight Howard type personality.
Everyone claims Kayvon sliding or not going #1 is a personality thing, I don't know he didn't seem like a can't miss top pick DE in any game I saw him play in. Not saying he can't put everything together and do well in the NFL, but he doesn't seem to me to be on the same level of some other elite DE who came out of college. That being said this draft isn't full of guys who look can't miss to me, so I still would be shocked if he doesn't go top 5 and I wouldn't hate the Lions taking him at 2.
It’s like the Corral character concerns. He got into a fight with Wayne Gretzky’s kid in high school, partied his freshman year and has admitted to depression.
Why is this class considered so "weak"? I thought this would be the one with the extra COVID kids in it, or was that last year?
It is no, but it doesn't change the fact I think teams can have non character concerns about KT. He didn't dominate the way you'd expect someone like him to
Heard an interesting take and an unsubstantiated theory on a podcast that teams don't like players like Thibodeaux because he comes across as smarter than the coaching staff/scouts and knows about other parts of society outside of just football, which they often don't. I think he could isolate himself in a locker room if he doesnt perform, but that's the case with anyone with charisma and opinions in any profession. You don't take him in the top ten worrying about him as a bust.
Must have been the games I didn't watch, tbf I didn't watch the Washington St or Ucla games. He got over half his sacks and tfl in those 2 games. Had 3 sks and 5.5 tfl in the other 8 games he played
It’s considered weak in first round talent. There is supposed to be a lot of talent available in the back half of the draft this year.
It's funny to me as a Lions' fan how much people make fun of Dan Campbell for being a meathead because coaches aren't supposed to talk like he talks, but then players like Thibodeaux get criticized because, in general, people want their football players (especially OL, DL, TE and LB) to be meatheads and cave men. There's also a pretty obvious racial component on this stuff where white people listen to smart black people and call them arrogant.
Seems like that would have been a pretty easy way for ESPN to get out of having to keep Kiper around until he's 80 by just saying he's not on the coverage if he can't be there live. I think that would have paid off in the long run.
Two predictions: Sauce Gardner is going to be the best player picked this week People are going to lose a lot of money betting on this draft
KT looked incredible early in that Fresno game and I texted my brother that he was the most dominant defensive player at Oregon I had seen. He got hurt like 10 minutes later and IMO was limited the rest of the season.
Guys that don’t give up a touchdown their entire college career rank pretty high on my imaginary big board.
That source being the deductive reasoning of the Jags signing Cam Robinson for the next 3 years, so they're probably taking the DL instead of a OT.
the important thing is costner's browns did all that wheeling and dealing to walk away with a running back and a middle linebacker, the two most premium positions
I don't disagree with the assumption, but Wisconsin has a QB in the NFL that in retrospect has a case for going 1.1 Run it back do the Colts take Wilson or Luck? I say take Luck and do more to not have him murdered out of the league, but one would at least have to think about it.
Speaking of money being blown on the draft… I’m on… Olave +900 2nd WR off board Olave +500 3rd WR off board Metchie +750 Top 32 pick
Vontae Mack : So? Who you picking? If I was you, I'd take a lightning-quick middle linebacker who can murder the gaps in a 3-4. Sonny Weaver Jr. : Totally agree. You got Reggie Wilson's number down there in Purdue? Vontae Mack : Now, I really don't find that funny. Sonny Weaver Jr. : Yeah, it's funny, Vontae. You're just not feeling it right now.
It’s pretty good value, he got the bama pedigree. I also believe he probably would’ve been a top 10 WR in this class had he not been hurt. If guys like Watson are getting 1st round buzz why not someone with better production and pedigree.
this is my best guess based off of the rumors through tonight (which everyone says you're not supposed to believe)
Think it will be interesting to see how the first 10-12 picks shapes the next 20. Seems like tomorrow could be a totally different night if the WRs start going earlier than if the first one goes off the board at 11 or later. Same with QBs and whether one goes top 10 or if we get to Pittsburgh and all of them are still there. LB is really interesting, too. All the gurus loved Lloyd and Dean after the season, but now it seems like they could both be there on day 2. That's a pretty deep position, and Quay Walker seems like the closest thing to a lock to go in rd1.
