I absolutely love the Chrono Sport, but it’s just too close to the Daytona. I’d get it instead of, but not in addition. Chrono Original (posted above) is also 38mm
I’m resigned to getting one of these… then getting the call for my Daytona & the wife’s Explorer 2-tone in rapid succession.
I’d look at the IWC Portuguese 42 instead of the Zenith. zenith doesn’t sing to me at all. If you like it then go for it.
I'm a fan of IWC & have a Big Pilot 43... Portuguese 42 is nice, but doesn't really have a place in my collection, as it's a dress chrono.
I know I'm in the minority, but I don't really love IWC or Zenith watches. But, I do like that Defy Skyline a lot.
Ask slogan119 , I’m an IWC Stan. But that’s not really my taste & technically far inferior to any El Primero movement available.
I got my BP43 at a 22.5% markdown, a few months after it was released… there’s value there, you just have to hunt for it
haha I'm sorry man. Someone made an offer and I jumped on it. Glad you found what you were looking for. Great watch.
*never been a watch guy* what is the general perception of Tissot's amongst watch guys? My dad was gifted one from a vendor many years ago and just gave it to me when I was in college. I have worn it off and on since but haven't worn it in a couple of years. Considering upgrading sometime this year and have no clue where to begin. Would rather get some pointers from you guys than get absolutely fleeced at the local jeweler.
They're well built and well regarded in their price range. Welcome to the game. I'd just post some things you're looking for and most importantly the price you want to stay around, and you'll get dozens of suggestions
You can scroll through this thread, r/watchexchange Chrono24 or some other watch site and find a few styles you like and figure out a price point you’re interested in and then people in here smarter than I can point you to a good maker of that style in that price range.
i'll do some sleuthing and get back to you guys. Budget is $1-2K I suppose and looking for a classic look with metal band. No idea on the Tissot model i'll check it when I get home The Blackfish
Just basically did this buying process a few months ago. Ended up with a Sinn 104 but I'd pared it down to the Sinn 556, the Longines HydroConquest, Oris BigCrown Pilot, or the Oris BigCrown Pointer Date (the awesome Clemente shown off above). I know some people love the Tissot PRX...not my style but seems to be a great watch for the money. All of the Hamiltons in that price range are probably pretty great as well. Lot's of great stuff out there...good luck!
https://tsaobaltimore.com/collections/legacy-collection-1 tsao Baltimore is a cool micro brand. The owner Alan is very chill and super responsive. I initially got one for my dad because he grew up in Baltimore. After seeing his in person I ended up getting one for me also.
I officially hate the term "micro brand". It mostly means, we slapped together a bunch of shitty Chinese parts & put a "Made in Akron" stamp on it. That'll be $900
Fuck. I just scrolled up. I'm an unintentional dick. scarlet_tacos that was in no way intended as shade towards you, just a general observation. Sticking with the micro-brew analogy... Jacksonville has about 20 breweries & only 2 are good. I feel like the ratio is worse with watches
Heard good things, but never made it there. Swells is still the best & Reve in Mayport puts out some decent sours… Still love going to Aardwolf, but they hit their plateau a long time ago. Mocama Beer Company up in Fernandina seems to put out good shit too, but haven’t made it up to the brewery
I’m sure they’ve sold out in all their stores, but if I magically find one in Vegas in two weeks I’ll buy two.
Anyone have one of those elastic mn straps? Was looking at the watch steward versions and was curious if the comfort made up for the hassle of putting on.
Took the plunge and will find out soon enough. There's a sale going on for the next few days for all of my strapheads out there
I was in Orlando last weekend, while my wife was attending a medical conference. I drove to 2 malls, expecting to find a Swatch Retail store inside. Fuckers closed shop & didn't bother to update their site / Google.
Went over to Hudson Yards to pick up a suit, went into Watches of Switzerland and we all know how many Rolex's they had in stock. Went into Cartier to see if they had any of the Tank Must with the plain face, no luck. Finally stopped in Panerai to check them out. Tried on this watch and really like it. Anyone own a Panerai or have any idea of their reputation?
I have the Radiomir 1940 and love it. Fits well on my female sized wrist, I highly recommend trying it on first before buying My favorite lume out of my collection:
