It'll be 10k and income based. Hopefully if it doesn't clear your debt they'll allow it to count towards future payments rather than just knocking 10k off the total all at once. That 10k could go a long way towards the 20 year forgiveness for people who are struggling

I mean there’s a lot of money wasted in higher education but there’s also a lot of money wasted in the military so I don’t see why that matters when discussing the government footing the bill for it. Both entities create high paying jobs and have societal impact beyond just their core functions
Yes. The government should just fund education. Then you would not have student loans, no tuition, and you wouldn't need to enrich the banks/investors at the expense of students, either.

When I was kid, California had free in state tuition. Then, like magic, Silicon Valley appeared. Maybe there's something to that?
We're getting dumber as a country every year. The government should make it free to slow that trend. Also Florida was awesome 20 years ago. They would basically give anyone who put the minimum amount of effort at least a 75% scholly to the state schools. I'm afraid to look at what it is these days.

My mom didn't get the benefit so everyone else can go fuck themselves and work into their mid 70s. She's my own mom and I didn't even care.
Up to $10k debt is forgiven but you have to pay half of it back in federal taxes over x amount of years lol
