https://wpln.org/post/nashvilles-ec...-are-worried-about-those-getting-left-behind/ Pizza chain Slim & Husky’s just upped its prices to keep pace with the rising cost of supplies. During the panel, co-founder E.J. Reed said he understands why so many restaurants go out of business. “We all know you can’t run a business if your prices are up and down all the time to your customer,” he said. “But that’s a lot of people’s business model when we are having to pay for items that prices are going up and down.” When the prices go up, Reed said, people have to decide between filling up their cars with gas or buying their Slim & Husky’s pizza. The North Nashville-based chain is known for its artisanal pies, made with locally sourced ingredients. But Reed said the business is struggling to figure out how they’ll be able to make the same high-quality food as their costs continue to increase. He said it’s nearly impossible. “How do we stay competitive? How do we offer salaries? How do we make these choices and decisions when the cost of cheese is going up, when the cost of corrugated boxes are rising every day?” he said. “Some of those critical decisions might mean we have to figure out how to readjust our staff on a daily basis.” Slim & Husky’s is considering using technology to manage some tasks that could put employees out work, in order to cut costs. That’s something Reed said he hopes to avoid, because he knows his staff in Nashville, Memphis, Atlanta and Sacramento count on him for their livelihoods.
Has anyone else noticed the increased costs of dining out? I feel like pre-covid, our average dinner costs $150-175 after tip (Drinks, apps, entree, sides, and dessert) but in the last 6 months we are at $225-250 after tip.
Prices have gone up, and quality has gone down while the tourists and change continues. You’re gonna lose a few Mexican joints in East and I’m terrified of losing king Solomon and big Al’s in 2022
Almost like the cost of goods, the cost of shipping, and the cost of labor have gone up as we are still catching up from the Covid reset.
You are correct about quality for some. One of our favorites pre-Covid was The Chef and I and had two subpar experiences for what amounted to $200+ meals. But, Kayne Prime, 5th and Taylor, and even Pelican & the Pig have maintained or even upped their game. I have never ate at King Solomon or Big Al’s.
This is interesting. Not sure we need another breakfast place right next to Sheps and Snooze. https://www.bizjournals.com/nashvil...icket-breakfast-sandwich-concept-to-open.html
Big Als has the best biscuits in town IMO. Super small "deli" located on a residential street in Salemtown. His lunch is legit too and there are some local celebs that are regulars. He's too nice to significantly raise his prices. The second this guy closes his doors I'm out of this town. King Solomon is right across from Kroger on Gallatin. I love gyros but these folks make the best gyro fries. Fajita gyro fries + hot sauce. They are also one of the cheaper delivery options. Their property was recently sold and they probably will be forced out soon. What's for lunch, everyone?
I love that people on Mckennie Ave are already bitching about "parking on the street in front of my house." https://wpln.org/post/how-a-former-...-reducing-barriers-for-small-business-owners/
This gets me excited, and we should see a dramatic decrease in speeding cars trying to get from Gallatin to Porter. https://nashvillenownext.com/2022/0...partments-set-for-large-mixed-use-conversion/
Looks like they have an alley. They should just do what everyone else does and install a carport. Add a projector. Make it an outdoor movie theatre. Post the Ring camera footage of your projector and car being stolen to East Nashville Facebook Group.
I walked my dog to The Wash the other day, and multiple homes had No Parking signs. I get not parking in someone's gravel parking pad, but the street should be fair game if you don't block a driveway.
Extremely doubtful. Tennessee vs Florida is in Knoxville the same weekend. I went last year and took my daughter. We had fun. Bonnaroo is probably my only festival. So many concerts this spring/summer I want to see in Nashville. Going to see Jack White at Ascend and Billy Strings at Ryman in the next 30 days. Would like to find a pair to Glass Animals at Ascend for my daughter's birthday this year, but resale was too much for me last I looked.
Need some east Nashville bar recs. Going to two ten jack tonight for a buddies bday and want to grab some cocktails before.
My work asked me today to find a place to make a dinner reservation for 21 people on Thursday..... Shoot me.
lol, good luck. At least it is Thursday and not Friday. I know 5th and Taylor have those private back rooms, could try them.
Should I be excited about this or nah? https://www.nashvillepost.com/busin...7UqXTa1vuHiSkp4aK9Ikih-rG5XCI74ChGmpjQPCjWDd0
5th and Taylor got a 59 on their health inspection. Violations included chickens cooked to 117, beef stored at 48, water dripping from the ceiling into shredded cheese, etc. Jesus, whose running the kitchen there?
How is Audrey? Some people seem to love it, but the sample menu and online reviews aren't as impressive.
It’s delicious, but you won’t get full if you do the tasting menu. I like the Continental better. Best prime rib you’ll ever have.
So, it seems the only option is the tasting menu at Aubrey? At least that's the only thing on the website
At this time, probably so. The Continental, his other restaurant, just transitioned to include an actual menu in addition to the tasting menu.
Dunkin Donuts to East Nashville = 926 Gallatin Ave. Feels just like Florida, a Dunkin and Publix right down the road from each other.
A Frugal security guard was shot and killed at the store about a month ago. That area has been built up a lot but still an insane amount of homeless.
That soft serve ice cream spot across from the old southern grist officially opened Just found about a food truck called dream burger too that parks out across from there at vinyl tap
Always are. Spoiler For me: 2013 Live on the Green 2015 Bonnaroo 2018 Bonnaroo 2019 NFL Draft 2019 Predsfest
