Green side bunkers: usually able to get out even if the shot isn’t particularly close to the pin. fairway bunkers: go ahead and add a stroke to that hole for me.
Just asking because I’ve carried a 60 (now a 58) for I dunno, 15+ years and almost never swing it full.
Chipping tip that helped my Saturday round. “Don’t ground the club at address and sweep the grass.” Zero chunks on the day when im usually good for at least 1.
4,3,5. On the par 4,drive in left rough, had a low ceiling on my second and hit a limb and bounced directly down and nestled down to the trunk of the tree and took relief punched out short of green, bladed 60 over the green and back, went completly under the ball on a flop, flop shot on the green 2 putt. Par 3 I shanked it into the water, then chunked it. next shot put it left of the green chunked 2 chips then chipped on the green and 2 putt. dogleg left Par 5 I double crossed my drive into the water reteed put it in play down the right. 3 wood, chunky 8 just short of the green, bump and run on the green but left it short and 2 putt slowest fucks in the world in front of us. 4 hour and 20 minute round
I feel like you had more than a 6 on the Par 3 you described above…maybe my reading comprehension is off.
I'm in a black hole of researching the claw grip. The other day I was just fucking around on the practice green and started using it. I was amazed at the results. Seen the science explained on some Youtube videos and it makes a ton of sense. I always had trouble with face impact. The claw grip makes it much easier for steep golfers (hand raised) to get square contact. I won't pretend to truly understand why (or understand enough to regurgitate it here), but you are welcome to dig in to that if you feel like it. If you have trouble pushing putts, for instance, you may want to try it out.
Got the Shanks for two holes today. Shanked nine consecutive iron and wedge shots. Got to par 3 and hit the best iron I've hit in a while. Made par. Had the best ba striking day I've had in months after that. Game is weird.
Damn. What’s your normal round time? I get a little pissy when I pass the 4 hour mark. Love sneaking out on a weekday afternoon and playing in 2.5
If I’m playing in a game with four or five in the group, that’s average. If I’m in a twosome or threesome, that would feel like a six hour round
This happened to a guy in my group in the club championship a few years ago. But it was only his wedges. Got the complete yips but was still able to hit his driver and other irons. Must have shanked 5 wedges in the round.
I’m good for 1-2 good wedge shanks a round directly to the right after a great drive on a par 4. Maddening
i enjoyed the notion that he hasn’t played with a driver the last two tournaments because he hits it too far
With the short game comments I read earlier. Not enough people play bump and runs anymore. Club I use around the green the most is my 8 iron.
A friend of mine played on the Latin American tour and in Asia before becoming a college coach. When he was teaching me about chipping he told me I wasn't good enough to even own a 60 degree and to start using 7-PW around the green to get it rolling asap. It took me a few years to really listen but now I play 8i almost exclusively and it has shaved at least 1 stroke per round
I’m a Texas wedge guy but added the bump 7 iron this year and it’s been magic. Took me a few rounds to train myself that I barely need to hit it to go where I need.
The only shitty thing is we have to wait months now to see how the C-suite is going to react and handle the situation. That should be hilarious. One of my favorite scenes in all of Strapped history was the sanctions meeting they had with Big Randy after the Northeast season when they accepted the free round.
If I've got a nice runway I play it out to 80 yards euro-style. Obviously if there's a bunker or other obstructions I hit a wedge
Back when I traveled I went to one of the courses the played in the Reno season. The pro said he would have given them free golf but they couldn’t take it
