Some #Michigan State Spartans fan wanted recs for Minneapolis Looks like I'm going to Bloomington this year. Halp.
I’ve heard very good things about Prime steakhouse but personally have never eaten there. I do regularly go the Sands casino. How many nights are you in town.
musikfest is great sight seeing if you want to walk around with an overpriced beer. It also makes traffic a nightmare in Bethlehem which makes telling you where to go more challenging. They literally close streets down so closest you might be able to park is literally a mile away. In town but may be a challenge to get to. Tapas on main Apollo grill Social still Thai Thai 2 Out of the shit. Check out promenade shops (center valley) area, 5-6 good places to eat there, easy to get to. Melt, white orchid, kome and some Latin place are all good. Bar Louise is there as well if you’re looking for a bar to watch a game. Blue grill house Bayou Enjoy, the best part of your trip will probably be leaving.
It looks like you’re right. Deep Fried Old Fashioned. Especially when you realize in Wisconsin an Old Fashioned is often a sweet drink that starts by muddling a fruit cocktail, then adding Brandy (seriously) and adding bitters and Sprite or Squirt. https://www.curiouscuisiniere.com/brandy-old-fashioned/
Goose just perused the thread. my favorite food to go out and get is at Casa Toro in Coopersburg. They have a Cuban cheesesteak that’s fucking dynamite. Their fries are garbage but that cheesesteak and beer can’t be beat in my book. Shouldn’t be more than a 15 minute ride easy to get to.
next time you go, try to check out a show at The Bishop or Bluebird. They get pretty decent shows with Jagjaguwar, Dead Oceans and Secretly Canadian all based there and the Jacobs School being such a mecca for musicians. Landlocked Music is a must-stop. Wonderful record shop - Siam House on 4th St for Thai food For a midwestern college town, 4th St has an insane offering of ethnic food - Mother Bear's for pizza - BuffaLouie's for wings for drinking: Nick's English Hut Video Saloon Upstairs Pub Kilroy's on Kirkwood Kilroy's Sports Irish Lion Pub Upland Brewing Company hopefully you got to tour the campus. It's up there with UVA for my favorite
Went to BuffaLouie's, Nick's, Kilroy's, and Upland off of your list. Unfortunately didn't get to tour much of the campus. Opted to post up at Nick's before the game and then walk to the stadium. Game atmosphere isn't great but Bloomington was a lot of fun. I'd go back.
I just had a couple M-43 and I may had gotten a bad batch or I may agree with you. I may be wrong. What is your pick for best Michigan beer?
M43 is fine, I’m just not a huge fan of the style (and think m43 is basically just a solid version of it). In terms of best? I have no idea. I guess shorts freedom of 78 isn’t favorite. I really like bells oracle, and hopslam too.
A buddy brought a bunch of Kuhnhenn beers back to Chicago and I was impressed. Dark Horse Plead the Fifth is my favorite though
I've really jumped on the hazy/new england IPA bandwagon, but today I wasn't as enamored as I usually am with the M-43. Hopslam was a lot better in '19 than it was in '18. I like Bell's Expedition Stout a lot, and Short's Bellaire Brown is great, but they're colder weather beers. Two Hearted might be the gold stardard.
I need to start buying some of the Kuhnkenn stuff. I see it and don't branch out, but if you're vouching I'll give it a shot.
Wisconsin is genetically engineering beef muscle cells to produce cheese in an effort to take down Minnesota and the Juicy Lucy.
Dying of something caused by eating that was probably less awful than having to work in the mines all day.
I don't know about that. Looks terrible and very plain. On the other hand, if in DC metro area try Kitfo at one of Ethiopian restaurants in the area. DC Metro is home to a large Ethiopian population. Multiple good restaurants to pick from. If you haven't had Ethiopian food before, some restaurants serve "family style" if you ask and you can try multiple dishes for a set price (may not be the menu).
Is that just ground beef? If so, that is food poisoning in a sandwich (and I really like beef tartare).
