I don't think that's up for debate. The prequels are horribly-told stories. The goodwill they've garnered over the recent years is due in large part to how the Clone Wars/Rebels shows filled in the gaps in character development that Lucas could not.
Oh its not debatable at all among the fanbase, but you'd never expect Hayden Christianson to ever actually acknoledge it even if it was an indirect way.
To be fair TCW had about 10x the screentime available to develop characters and story arcs (130 eps x ~20 mins vs 6 hours total for ep 1-3) - so one could hold the false belief that the movies were masterfully well done and yet still look to TCW to fill in the gaps.
Yeah I won't deny a TV series is an easier medium for developing characters. That's not to say it can't be done on film in 6.5 hours as well. There's a great story idea (two of them; fall of the Jedi/Republic, and the fall of Anakin) at work in the prequel trilogy, but the execution of that story (namely in acting and screenwriting) prevents that good story from being well told.
We’re playing the new Lego Star Wars game and I got too cheesy when the captions switched from ‘Darth Vader’ to ‘Anakin’ after he threw the emperor down the chute.
You can pick whichever trilogy you want to begin with. I picked the prequels just to go in chronological order. Like the very first cut scene had me laughing. Quigon and Obi-Wan walking through the droid ship and there's some big poster board looking thing with an obvious invasion plan of Naboo. They walk on by oblivious to it
yeah man, totally or maybe i just thought this thread of all places would appreciate the toy i bought him for today and you shouldn’t be such a cunt
I’m sure this has been rehashed several times in this thread, but… The prequel trilogy wasn’t as bad as I remembered. In fact, I found myself really enjoying the last hour of ROTS especially. They are by no means perfect movies, but I actually found them enjoyable to rewatch.
There have always been sections of those movies I enjoy a lot. But the rest is so infuriating it overshadows those parts.
Agree. I think consensus itt is that TCW and related repaired the gaps and filled out the plot and characters so well that it’s impossible to remember how bad they were in context.
Just because someone can wade through the shit writing and acting and find the good story that George is trying to tell (and failing, due to the shit writing and acting) doesn't mean the writing and acting ceases to be shit.
It’s too bad series didn’t exist like the do now. I’d watch the shit out of a qui gon and young obi wan show
I'm gonna guess that similar to the Book of Fett mini-series, we get an episode or 2 centered around Ahskoka hence, the delay in production here.
