Going in less than an hour. I'm not really a horror movie guy so this might not be my thing, but still excited.
pearl do you not fucking know what spoilers until Monday means? Someone thread ban him for being an idiot and an asshole
That was the Sam Raimiest movie Sam Raimi had made since Army of Darkness. What a wild fucking ride. One of the most effective villains in any MCU movie. Maybe second only to Thanos
Spoiler Xavier hovering in on his yellow chair, with the 90s animated theme song playing, and then he touches his head and fucking woom-woom-woom circles start radiating from his head just like in the cartoon. CHEF'S FUCKING KISS Everything about the Illuminati sequence was perfect, right down to the horrendous ways they all died. I was smiling from ear to ear for every second of it.
I enjoyed it. I'm really confused by where the MCU is going right now, but I generally like the content still. One thing bugged me... Spoiler What the fuck was with Wong taking Wanda there? You're the Sorcerer Supreme and you just take the most powerful being to a place she doesn't even know exists so she can do exactly what you're trying to stop because... she threatened to kill some people I thought were already dead? Seems like the kind of thing that gets your fancy title taken away to me.
If you’re a Horror fan you’re going to lose your shit, if you’re a marvel fan you’re going to lose your shit it was excellent
Spoiler Everyone is going to be talking about the Illuminati stuff, and rightly so, but that Strange vs Strange fight was amazing. Using magic as keynotes for music was so extremely awesome. I got goosebumps at how cool the music sounded as well as just how they interwove it in their actual fighting.
Question about one of the big scenes at the end... Spoiler What did Wanda say to herself/Scarlet Witch in the house right before the main version came back and killed herself and the Darkhold (seemingly, at least)? I didn't hear whatever it was.
Is there a quick button for spoilers? anyway Spoiler Sam Raimi just came for Taika’s throne imo Between that scene, dead strange, being chased by Wanda (my theater was screaming “run” , and the Illuminati deaths: holy fucking shit
In terms of what you should watch going in (spoilered in case you don't want any hints whatsoever about shows it could involve)... Spoiler Wanda Vision for sure. You at least need some knowledge of what happened there and how it ended. I'm kind of glad I watched "What If...?" before I saw it, too. I don't think I needed to, but there is some stuff the show kind of foreshadows on some level. I don't think you need to see any of the other D+ shows as far as I can recall.
A comic connection Spoiler Jonathan Hickman introduced incursions in his masterful Avengers run culminating in Secret Wars. It’s extremely dense. One person heavily involved was Dr Doom…
Just got home. What a movie. Very dark as others have said. I'm glad I gave this a trial run and didn't take my 5 year old as he loves all things marvel.
Liked it a lot but some nit picky stuff makes me not love it. But it’s a comic book movie so it’s whatever. Might change my opinion after I sleep on it.
We’ve heard many times that the next MCU movie/series is something completely different than what the MCU has done before. There have been projects that fit that bill, and even the ones that didn’t were still great, but this is so far beyond what Feige has put out before in terms of different. Spoiler Rachel McAdams’s ass in that outfit
It’s not Infinity War levels pacing, but it’s not too far behind either, and IW’s pacing is downright absurd.
Nothing's going to touch Infinity War for a while, I think. Story, characters, moments, action, drama, dialogue, pacing, ending. The movie had it all.
After watching I really enjoyed it. It had moments that remind me of the fun of ragnarok. Will talk more on Monday.
Tbh that sucks. My son has been begging for two weeks to go see it. Sucker has seen every marvel movie to date and will be sad if this is the direction they are going with these movies causing him to miss seeing them. I am going to go pre screen it and see if it is something I can talk him through.
I don’t see Marvel making another horror movie again in the immediate future and Thor comes out in 2 months so there’s still something to look forward to, it depends on the kid though This would have scared me a bit at 12 but my 9 year old brother would have enjoyed it immensely
same we’ve been taking him and his classmate since shang chi and they were psyched for it after the spider man post credits
Maybe I just psyched myself up so much about the horror parts going in that I missed some of it, but I didn't think it was that scary or bad. It's far from the most 8-year-old friendly MCU movie, but I don't think it's a hard no, either. Then again, I don't know what 8-year-olds should be watching so what do I know.
I mean there are really just two specific sequences that are more intense than usual. You'll know one of them when you get there as it's basically a classic horror movie "bad guy chases good guy down a long hallway" scene. That one has some jump scares that are legit PG13 horror movie good. The other I'll put in spoilers, but they'll be mild spoilers. No characters mentioned: Spoiler There's a scene about halfway through the movie when Strange encounters a group of people upset with him that he's seemingly screwing with the multiverse. These people later rush off to fight the villain of the movie and are promptly taken out. It's about a 7 minute scene and each one of them suffers a legit PG13 horror movie death (snapped necks abound, in a very jumpscare sort of way)
This isn't a mild spoiler, IMO. I wouldn't read that if I haven't seen the movie, FWIW, since it's pretty clear what is being referred to.
I was just thinking he did a pretty good job of keeping it vague There will be no agreeing when it comes to this apparently
You think so? I mean you've seen the movie so you know what it's referring to, but the actual parts that someone wouldn't want spoiled aren't spoiled, other than what ends up happening, I guess.
