Don’t forget how excited they probably are at breaking up those disgusting interracial marriages as well and reducing minorities to a permanent second class with the potential removal of the civil rights act
What are the implications as far as Rs/SCOTUS breaking down the ability of the fed govt to regulate? That seems like a pretty big item that's just sitting out there getting ready to get much worse. /not a lawyer
This all ends very violently. Maybe not across the country but we’ve certainly seen armed right wing goons willing to take the fight to the Capitol. I’m gonna stock up on soup cans and do some rotator cuff exercises.
Yeah, I disgree. They're ready to go know, and they know they can stay in power by using SCOTUS to keep screwing down on voting.
youll be comforted in knowing that there is established Supreme Court precedent that says they can regulate it, so I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about
15 more degrees and we can safely cook our steaks on rocks and not have to use coal anymore! Checkmate lib
it's gonna be cool when the court rules against the EPA and steve bannon's goal of dismantling the administrative state is achieved.
To your point, it all starts with using the filibuster to get voting rights. Get a national voting right bill passed due to removal of the filibuster decreases the chances that Republicans get elected into office by shady means and weaponize the lack of the filibuster to get their psychotic agenda passed. We would have to worry so much less about all of the things we worry about if we started with voting rights.
i agree with this buts its even crazier since trump made the roe litmus test more up front than ever for people paying attention but most people aren't paying attention much
right trump said (paraphrasing) "we should punish women who have abortions" yet these people are pro trump yet pro-choice makes no sense
I think also the Portnoy types relate to Trump. They don't necessarily relate to the McConnell's or faceless judges
same as the Georgia races where there seems to be Kemp-Warnock voters if you believe the polls. voting for or against on personality vs big picture ideology and society
These dipshits that think nobody actually cares about anything don’t understand that I really wish they were right in what they think about me. Caring about shit sucks.
I would become the source of endless Twitter debates and pundit soapbox grandstanding after I was arrested for hurling feces at them
When Trump dies (fingers crossed) it will be interesting to see how that all plays out in terms of where that segment goes. I don’t think it’s an insubstantial bloc of the current GOP, or at least of the ones active in social media spaces.
Outwardly being an asshole only the way they wish they could is the only thing I can see them having in common. Oh and wishing to be super wealthy.
The one thing that I am optimistic on is not many politicians (basically none of them) can replicate what Trump has/had. He had decades of celebrity and perceived success as a businessman. He was somewhat ambiguous as far as his politics were concerned in 2016. Ran against a very unpopular candidate and he has a charisma that works on a significant part of the population.
Absolutely. I think Jr. or Eric may awkwardly try to jump in and grab those guys, but it will be laughable. DeSantos is setting the stage for his own coup attempt of that group and 2024 will tell us a lot about how successful the attempt is.
I'm only like halfway through but the 5-4 pod episode on this is really good. Great pod in general too. Couldn't recommend it any more highly. Their tagline is "A podcast about why the Supreme Court sucks"
Listening to the part about how Dems can't admit that they've been out maneuvered for decades and have no real power despite holding the legislature and the presidency. It's so spot on
Realized something, personally, that this bill is going to do with shit. Nebraska *narrowly* avoided the filibuster and potential getting the ‘trigger’ to happen once Roe vs. Wade is overturned. My wife and me are moving back to Nebraska from Oregon because of 2 reasons primarily. 1) she’s a twin and wants to be around family/friends because of 2) we are looking to start a family I legit might need to look into Iowa for a place instead of Omaha because no way in fuck do I want my wife to potentially be in a position, if she gets pregnant, where some of the bullshit that’s about to be passed could put her life in danger. Iowa fucking sucks but they don’t have the trigger bill. But I’m caught asking myself, hold on, we WANT to have a kid after being responsible, paying off debt, and getting our life in order to potentially make the decision to bring a kid into this world. Your response to that is to make us weigh the risk of all that is associated with pregnancy and essentially telling my wife she is just a fucking Uber driver with no fucking rights?!? I spent an hour last night just awake, thinking how fucking gutless the democrats are and how fucking HORRIBLE these assholes on the right are. tldr: yea, thinking about starting a family and this decision is going to have a huge impact on a lot going forward. A lot, and my wife will put everything on the line if we decide to go through it.
See, this is a huge issue, what if an emergency comes up and you just can’t ‘pack up and travel?’ plenty of examples of this happening and coming out as well. Also, who the fuck knows how strict these laws are going to get.
This isn’t just related to abortion but just generally with pregnancy there’s lots of reasons why this isnt doable sometimes.
