He loves horror movies and marvel movies too. He said he was comparing it to the most recent Spider-Man , which he loved.

Nobody knew the direction of the Infinity Saga until Whedon threw in Thanos in the mid credit scene. The Tesseract in the first Cap movie was originally thought to be the Cosmic Cube.

Guessing we get the multiverse wars, but they come together to fight Kang as the ultimate big bad of the phase after he completely wipes out some universes.

There wasn't even a plan for Thanos until after Avengers. Whedon included him as possible sequel bait without Fiege having a plan. Afterward he started building toward Infinity War. I have no worry about them laying out a plan for the next big event. It's clearly going to be a multiverse theme, with Kang being the big bad

Won’t get to see DS2 until Wednesday but it should also be pointed out that if they follow the same map with a buildup to a single event like IW, I’d be kind of disappointed tbh.

We actually have 3 pretty major storylines going on simultaneously and I think people have already forgotten the space/SWORD dynamic we’re going to get more as we get closer to Capt Marvel 2 and GoTG3.

Thought about his place in the MCU today. It seems his illness was kept very close to the vest but I assume at least a couple of higher ups at Disney had to have known and had a plan going forward. I’d like to think he was even included in the discussion.

Not sure if it’s been known but saw an article a couple days ago that said Boseman definitely won’t be recast. I really liked Duke’s M’Baku but I’d have a hard time seeing him pick up the BP mantle. As much as Marvel would love to have a black female lead here, I struggle to see them putting their eggs all in Wright’s basket, as polarizing as she’s been off set.

    Just finished a second viewing.

I think had it not been Sam Raimi or some other director with a very strong signature style, the movie would have really suffered. The plot is paper thin and a lot of the dialogue is just exposition dumps.

But Raimi injected his horror comedy stylings into it and elevated the picture. It was just as good the second time and that third act, even when I knew what was going to happen still had me shaking my head and smiling

When Strange says "who said he has to be living" and we cut to a thunderbolt and zombie Strange rising. Amazing

I think if they wanted they could have just brought back the Reed from the Tim Story movies. Krasinski was the only "new" actor of the bunch. I'll be shocked if he's not announced as Reed, possibly as early as this month

Getting an F4 movie right is going to be the biggest challenge Feige has had since the beginning days of the MCU.

You have to straddle the line between silly powers and serious stories. You have to balance the family dynamic that is inherently small scale with villains that are usually huge in scope. You have to give equal time, not only to the four, but to a large roster of ancillary characters, not to mention Doom himself.

I think Krasinski can pull of Reed. He didn't have much to do but here but he at least looked and sounded the part. That said, I don't think it's an accident that we saw basically none of his powers in use. They purposefully kept that hidden because, probably, they're still workshopping exactly how to make it look good and not the wrong kind of corny.

yes, shockingly so. it had been years since i downloaded a CAM but audio on this was 9/10 and video was probably 7/10; very easy to follow but not crystal clear for all of the cgi madness with Dr. Strange stuff in particular.

here are my belated thoughts, which admittedly came from a (good) cam version on my home laptop rather than in theaters.

    the good:
    - Wanda/Elizabeth Olsen is great. Scarlett Witch was incredible and I hope (and think) she's still alive. She was way more interesting than an evil version of Dr. Strange or some other "clone" villain.
    - I really liked most of the obvious Raimi influence. In fact, I wished they leaned into that even more. wanda's hallway walk was great -- almost felt like the terminator coming.
    - I thought the musical fight with the corrupted Dr. Strange was really creative. I want to watch that scene again on youtube/hd.
    - I had forgotten about the Professor X voice in the trailer and didn't know about the council of genius people. in fact, i haven't heard of the illuminati before this movie. seeing some of the awaited heroes (RR/F4, Prof X) and then their demise was fun.
    - the last part of the fight between wong/DrS and SW was good/interesting with the mirrors and reflections.

    the bad:
    - i though this movie was very plain aside from the raimi twists. all of the dialogue felt like exposition. there were a lot of nameless/faceless things that don't matter in the way.
    - wasn't a big fan of America. i liked the very initial scene with her in the dream and then that becoming a reality but the father-daughter thing they were trying to do with Dr Strange and her didn't resonate with me. also, her power is lame to me - it's a literal punch! - and not something i think i'll care about.
    - wong gave into SW's demands because she briefly tortured four of the soldiers... that we all thought were already dead? with countless others likely dead?

    the other:
    - I think I've found that I'm more interested in the, "superheroes interacting with society (and vice versa)" rather than the, "how superheroes team up to fight things" stories. so i found this movie somewhat boring because this mindless action kicks off the entire movie. the wedding guest sitting next to strange and telling him about his cats and brother was one of the more interesting things in the movie! do more of that!
    - similarly, i don't know how much i'm going to find myself caring about the multiverse. it's already hard enough with just one earth to keep the movies grounded. this is one of the big reasons why i'm not that interested in america. am i supposed to care that a Dr. Strange that i've never met collapsed two universes in some other reality? Is the Dr. Strange who I know supposed to care about that? I guess we'll see how things develop but i'm already not in love with some of the shows and may find myself out if the movies get a little too irrelevant to me.
    - we see hints of a deeper movie that could be made ("Are you happy?"... everything to do with Christine and him, potential regrets in choosing the blip/the path he chose, and whether he wishes he had a different life... which would make a father-daughter-type relationship way more interesting!) but we instead get basically 100 minutes of straight action.
    - in my perfect world, this film would've been split into two movies (in lieu of it feeling sort of like two movies): a film exploring the grief, depression, and regrets of Dr. Strange (with Wanda sort of losing it herself) and then a second movie that really explores the horror of a mad Scarlett Witch with Dr. Strange's realiziation that he needs to help stop her (with all of the Raimi horror). Obviously this would never happen with Disney but for me, all of the "Are you happy?" stuff - and much of Wanda's good-to-bad turn (even having seen and enjoyed Wandavision) feels superficial and unearned.

Question, if Secret Wars is the ultimate culmination of the multiverse saga, shouldn’t the Beyonders be the big bad instead of Kang the Conqueror?

I’ll admit I’ve never read secret wars because it feels like a daunting task, but I’ve long stopped expecting the mcu to be exactly like the comics. As long as they nail the characters I’m good.

we also have no idea what kangs role will be going forward. It’s possible hes the phase 4 bad and phase 5 is secret wars

Rambaue was Captain Marvel in that universe though when she wasn't in our main movie universe. Same with Captain America vs Captain Carter. Also all Loki's all weren't the same person. So I think they could go either way with who ends up playing Reed Richards. it could end up being Krasinski who plays him in the movies or he could end up just being a one off fan service.
