They’re not intentionally banning IVF. But when you draw the line at fertilization, it necessarily follows.
Seriously considering just moving to Canada now instead of a blue state with my 4 year old daughter as it seems Dems fully intend on letting the GOP strip away rights as they see fit.
So...none of these white/male dominated legislatures are quick to pass laws banning vasectomies, huh? How shocking
Ughhh fuck off Psaki. Don’t you have more pressing matters to attend to like discouraging workers from unionizing?
Republicans do not care about how laws affect them, because they don't abide by them. They don't become pro-choice when they're faced with a difficult decision; they just have the abortion and still prevent others from having one. They'd do the same with vasectomies, or porn bans, or any other "response."
Perhaps they ought to be shipped off to say a camp where they can go concentrate on how to become better people.
You think he was literally being serious? Also women have brought up forced vasectomy legislation in state legislatures when abortion rights were being stripped away, to make a point about hypocrasy.
I know he wasn't seriously promoting it (and the previous poster suggesting a porn ban wasn't either). The point is that they're immune to hypocrisy.
Of course they are, and who the fuck cares? I'd rather see our reps try to push through anything just to show they have some spine rather than platitudes about needing to "vote harder."
Some nut job fired a gun into a Doctor that performed abortions house and was killed. It’s like the court doesn’t have any regard for human life.
Kill the filibuster, codify the right to choose, and pack the court. Anything short of that is dumb, futile, and counterproductive.
I think we're all aware that none of that will happen, Manchin and Sinema will not budge. Literally nothing is going to stop this, I'd rather see every other member of congress call those two out publicly and repeatedly every day.
All that does is push them to closer to switching parties. Mitch as majority leader again is not something we want.
I fucking hate this line of thinking, it's how we ended up with this never being codified in the first place. What the fuck happens, a few judges not being able to be appointed in the next two years? They already control the SC, the GOP can do what they want if they can get a god damn case heard. I'd guarantee you that you'd motivate a LOT more younger people if you showed you were willing to play hard than just sitting on your hands and making empty promises that things will definitely surely change next time we get a trifecta.
Also cancel 50k in student loans. But they’re a bunch of fucking complicit losers so they’ll do nothing then blame the left wing of the party when the youngs stay home and they get their ass kicked
Like if this is day 1 I get that you don't immediately go nuclear, but if what's happening now isn't a major crisis that calls for them to get ugly with (supposedly) the only two people blocking codifying abortion then you've clearly failed to represent the people who elected you.
Packing the court seems like a really, really bad idea. Fastforward to 2060 when we have a Supreme Court with 400 justices.
My line of thinking is about how the trifecta of which you speak isn't really a trifecta. Ever since Jan 5th when Warnock and Ossoff won, Sinema and Manchin knew they had the dems bent over a barrel. The power the majority leader in the senate has is substantial. Judge KBJ wouldn't have been confirmed had the dems not played their game.
I wish the democrats for once realized you don’t negotiate with terrorists. They only understand force.
Literally NONE OF THAT SHIT MATTERS NOW AND WOMEN WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET ABORTIONS IN OVER HALF THE COUNTRY. You've seen the polling even BEFORE the GOP manipulates the results in November in the states where they've stripped or replaced all the elections officials, showing no spine is going to result in a bloodbath.
A Democrat in Kentucky and West Virginia isn't necessarily the same as the rest of the country. It's essentially the reason why one of the reddest states has a D senator at all.
Replace the Supreme Court with an app that lets everyone vote yea or nay. Give everyone in America a smartphone.
No one is disputing this, do you understand the how a demoralized and a dejected younger voting bloc that did show up in 2020 is going to need to be motivated? Or are you just going to blame them again for not showing up to vote when they've begged you to attempt to do anything?
I was merely responding to the suggestion of the Democratic establishment doing coordinated public attacks against them. The Dems do need to stop being weak pushovers but they also have to be strategic about it. Arresting the members of congress that were involved in attempting to overthrow the government would be a good place to start/
Feel like this opinion is only possible if you feel the court still has legitimacy, which is wild at this point.
