Chose GF because of it’s proximity to MK but next time I go I’m staying there. I got outvoted this time
Guardians of the galaxy: cosmic rewind is immediately the best WDW ride. Full stop. Just a brilliant effort all around.
My sister is coming for 10 days (5 at Disney, 5 at our dads) in late June and I’m super excited as I have seen, my BiL or nephews since before covid (they still live in Mass), I’m absolutely dreading the heat of a Magic Kingdom day.
I have a preview on the 19th. I’ll still be out for “child bonding” but I have to ride solo as my wife had a c section and our friends who got it with us have a kid due right around then. Still going to rule.
did a preview today it was fun with a couple of intense moments, nothing crazy intense though. kind of like a non-inverted rock n roller coaster obviously this is all subjective and if you prefer a roller coaster I can't really argue that, but it still doesn't come close to Rise for me
Maybe it is because I didnt get to do rise until recently and so it was so hyped or maybe it is because I like Star Wars just fine but don’t Love Star Wars, but I found rise to be overrated. It’s a good ride, but I’d never wait an hour for it. And I won’t pay for lightning lane for it going forward either. Like you said- it’s subjective and a matter of taste.
for me it's more about the tech i'm very meh on both marvel and star wars so neither IP really does much for me but the physical sets vs a dark indoor coaster with screens is a losing situation for my tastes
oh, ya im not lumping rat into rise just bc of it being trackless rat is the worst use of a trackless ride system
I know they had all kinds of issues in getting it open and I think, which seems to now be a warning sign, they took the cheap way out on it to just get it done. Even the basics of walking through the line inside and just staring at red walls with absolutely nothing on them at all.
People really like Rise? Weird. Tech was cool and all but give me a roller coaster over high-tech/3D rides all day. The best part of rise was the gigantic waiting room with all the storm troopers.
it is impressively immersive. It’s a close to being put into a movie or a world as you can get as a large group of amusement park guests. If you are a huge Star Wars fan- and there are plenty of those to justify/support the ride- I imagine it is an amazing ride and worth every minute or dollar you spend on the ride. but if I’m being honest, it’s a good ride but not a great one. Most of it is built in delays to prevent you from feeling youre waiting so long for the actual ride. The line up, the transport, the transfer into the escape vehicle- it’s just part of the queue for the escape ride. It’s an impressive way to make a queue seem like the ride and it’s a cool experience to do once for sure. But, for me, it’s a beefier runaway railway.
well yeah, that's what helps make the ride special. The line is just a better "ride" than 75% of other rides out there. I don't disagree here, but even as a beefier Runaway railway, it's still an incredible ride with all of the physical sets.
Not sure why you’d go to Disney looking for coasters. Their rides are 90% immersive rides, and rise is the most immersive ride ever made. Its also probably the most technologically impressive ride ever made
if you prefer coasters, you're probably better off going to Sea World or Busch Gardens (this is not a dig, I just wouldn't go to disney for their coasters) disney was always known for their dark rides and the theming for them
Busch Gardens is fun. But yeah if you’re looking for coasters, save your money and go to your nearest six flags
I keep forgetting about it bc I haven't been back to Universal since that opened I let my AP for Universal lapse over covid gotta fix that at some point
maybe I was just disappointed after all the hype. It’s a cool experience but the ride aspect is pretty mediocre. I’d ride it again if the wait is ever under 30 minutes (lol) but yeah I’m not waiting two plus hours ever again for that.
Took 4 year old to Magic Kingdom for the first time Friday. Shoutout my wife for doing absolutely all of the planning, booking, genie band, lightning lane, whatever the fuck else there was she managed the fuck out of the trip. Good weather, crowds weren't bad, and I think we hit everything we wanted (within reason). One of my last Magic Kingdom memories as a kid was being tired as hell riding the boat back to Fort Wilderness. Probably my favorite pic of the day
Genie + and lightning lanes work really well for magic kingdom- probably better than FP+ did. i wouldn’t waste my money on genie + for the other parks and maybe buy the lightning lane for the high volume inidividual rides like rise, FoP, etc. there aren’t enough rides to make it worth it. Maybe I did it wrong, but that was my impression. I found that at the other parks you get one lightning lane maybe early in the day and then your next option after that is always 6pm or for some ride you don’t need a lightning lane for. Maybe with practice my mind will change.
No, you are absolutely correct and that's why most have said it sucks/not worth it for anything other than MK. The other parks dont have enough rides to supply it to make it worth it. The other parks put their top ride in ILL and it kills Genie+/regular LL for those parks.
LL is worth it for HS and AK because you can do everything in those parks by 1-2 and just go back to your hotel and chill if you’re staying on property. I love that aspect Epcot is weird. Frozen and Ratatouille are usually the only ones with crazy lines but occasionally spaceship earth and test track her crazy too. Depends on the day
True but if you want to do everything and you pick poorly on your first ride, you’re waiting 2-3 hours for the next big ride I chose to do rise first last time I went without LL and then i had to wait 2 1/2 hours for the slinky dog coaster. Not to mention runaway railway. I’d just rather get all of it done ASAP and hang out. MK is the only park I ever really linger in and do stuff more than once.
if you rope drop DAK and get FoP done in the first hour, the rest of the park (ride wise) will be done by 1pm regardless no need to pay to do that (ie not worth its value)
yep we did that and then rode expedition Everest 3 times before the line climbed over the 10 min mark. Then we hit safari and then went to the pool. Mission accomplished.
What really blows my mind are the people that rope drop only to ride something stupid like people mover
people mover is awesome when you’re tired as shit and don’t want to do anything else I’ll give it that plus I’ve seen space with the lights on once on there. And it’s cool to see tron but that’s about it
