I’m going to read it but I’m guessing the tldr version is that Jackson Carman is fat, has a shitty work ethic, and probably doesn’t even really like football.
He raped a 15 year old girl when he was a freshman at Clemson, allegedly. Other teams took him off their draft boards because of it, in addition to well known immaturity and work ethic issues. Pretty strong indictment of the Bengals paltry scouting department
I’m cool with Hill. He has the versatility to play all over and will replace Bates next year. Now get a d lineman with one of the two picks today.
I also like the pick. I had been reading/hearing that they weren't going to take Booth due to the injury concerns and lack of testing, so getting a versatile athletic guy in the secondary is totally cool with me. I imagine Elam and Linderbaum both would've been options had they not been selected.
I think Karlaftis was the guy they really wanted there with the way the end of the first round broke, but I love the Hill pick. Maybe doesn't fill an immediate need, but this is a really athletic, position-versatile kid who can run and cover. He'll be on the field plenty this year, and with Bates and Bell both likely moving on after this season, he'll slot right in after that. Reaching for a "need" position is how you wind up with bums like Dre Kirkpatrick, Darquez Dennard, Billy Price, etc
Seems like we made the best out of the available. Hill can be the nickel guy and give us some depth should Bates or Bell get hurt Wouldn’t have been upset with Booth or Dean. Deans a tad undersized and it sounds like Booth might have some off the field stuff? Or am I mixing him up with someone else?
Not sure about off the field stuff, but Booth didn't test and has an injury currently. They don't typically draft players who don't have any testing data
Yeah good call. There had been a ton of Karlaftis talk leading up to yesterday as well. I imagine his impact may have been similar to what Hill will provide. Probably would have rotated with Hubbard, Hutchinson, and Ossai plus played a little interior DL as well.
I have no idea what to expect today. Not sure if they'll consider a pure corner in the second or third but I imagine it could happen if the right guy is there. I'm assuming it'll be some combination of DL/CB/OL and maybe even tight end if someone like McBride falls. Know they're high on Dulcich too but he seems like a third or fourth-round guy.
WR is sneaky kind of a need as well. The depth after the top 3 is basically non-existent, and you can't expect to have two consecutive seasons without any of them missing real time. Plus with the way the market has moved this off-season, we may only have one more year of Higgins before he wants a new deal and it makes more sense to trade him. Keeping both he and Chase will be nearly impossible.
I think the Bengals are doing fine. Not a lot of pizzaz but that’s not what they needed this time around. Kinda sucks all the good TEs are gone but I’m not terribly worried about the position.
Lol they didn't even show the helmets, they just teased them. The all white unis and helmets will be sick though
I like the white helmet better. The stripes are painted on the current helmet, aka it's not a sticker they can take off, so they can only be used for that. It would be pretty pointless to have a second helmet that is also orange.
