Fun facts: there is no liquor store in blue ridge. Never knew that until last weekend when I was camping there. Fortunately i always bring my own bourbon when camping. It’s slightly out of the way and probably won’t work if you are coming through too early, but on your way to Athens from the airport, the Branded Barrel on Pleasant Hill Road is my liquor store. Outstanding selection of craft beers and brown liquor.
Dinner with a client in LA last night. We ordered EHT Rye, Stagg Jr, EC 18yr, Hillrock Cask Strength Rye and a few others that I didn’t try. Good times
A local steakhouse tried to sell me on a pour of blanton’s for $50. I asked him why I would do that if I could get a bottle for $60. I think WSR is 29.99?
I’d like to report back. Old man power rankings: Overholt Grandad Banana Forester Fried Haddock - elite That was a good $15 tab.
Willet Rye or EHT small batch? Obviously neither is outstanding but it’s a free bottle and I can pick between the 2
Finally had a chance to crack open the baby saz and boy was it delightful!! Massive thanks to all of the taster and especially NYGator for getting the first of hopefully many bottles!
Took the Rye Curios bottle camping last weekend. Good news - Tastes excellent. Bad News - I'm already halfway done.
2 new starlight store picks are in but again both are outrageously expensive. One is white port barrel finished the other is VDN barrell finished rye. Both are 4 years. Both are $94. Gonna pass on them again.
$94 is chunky, but I paid $80 for my maple finish and absolutely love it. The Benash store pick (unfinished) is one of my favorite bottle of the last year. Do you, but I’ve been impressed with what I’ve had from Starlight so far.
I feel like you’re telling me to just sack up and buy it and damnit that might just be enough to get me to do it.
I just drank 2 10+% beers and I’m definitely about to drink the first pour of Rye Curious here shortly.
I’m sorry to break the tradition of #finishedfriday but I needed a full proof Friday pour instead. Also, fly traps are super cool. Get some and give them distilled water or let them get rainwater.
