Not going to lie, I 100% had to check Drink’s twitter to see if he posted something equally nerdy as Auburn and this was his most recent (re)tweet He never disappoints
Mississippi State has had a winning conference record just once this millennium. Let’s focus on getting over the “not losing at least 4 games every season” hump Cap’n.
Leach has that Playoff call sheet stashed away for when his games actually get important. Just dying to bring it out.
I like the idea of playing the entire conference every 2 years. Dislike ending another historic rivalry
Curious how you would get to the conference championship game from the 4 pods. I think the winner of each pod going to a playoff would be fun, but doubt they add in another layer of games.
Yeah, so UT would play like Alabama, Vandy, and whoever every year but Alabama would play Auburn, UT, and whoever every year while the rest rotate. It is the only system that makes sense really.
Seems these are the Pods that make the most sense and is pretty balanced outside of maybe the 3rd grouping being lite b/c Miss schools suck and Aggies will never be good. Believe most are saying any permanent opponents will be gone. Georgia Florida South Carolina Kentucky Auburn Bama Tennessee Vanderbilt LSU A&M Ole Miss State Oklahoma Texas Arkansas Missouri
Agree. I really dislike that. Fucking stupid. Since expansion, Auburn lost UT and UF as a permanent rival and is about to lose UGA. Seems stupid. but yay we get to play Vandy annually
don't think there is momentum for Pods anymore they are going to a 3+6 format once Texas/Oklahoma join
You won't have a division. You'll have three permanent opponents. The remaining 12 SEC teams will be played over the course of four years (home and away with the first six, and then home and away with the other six). The only issue is how to handle tiebreakers for the SEC championship game. There are already rules in place for divisional ties so I'm sure they've already got it figured out.
Divisions are and always have been dumb. Just establish tiebreakers and take the top two teams. It won’t be hard.
its not that complicated and a lot more balanced than Pods also is more TV-friendly, whose $s are driving the league's fortunes.
The most complicated part of the 3+6 method will be determining the 3rd permanent opponent. Some schools like Bama and Texas are really easy to pick 3, but others like Auburn and UGA will be difficult.
The hard part on that would be LSU. A&M, Arky, Ole Miss, Miss St, Bama, and Florida may also want LSU. LSU is also the school that has complained the most about playing the other big teams, so they may just want the Mississippi schools and 1 big school. Also figured many Auburn people would want Florida or Tennessee back.
Lol at LSU complaining. They can deal with it. If we couldn’t get them for some dumb reason, yes I’d like UF back.
