I use a little pill pocket treat that she, fortunately, really likes. And the pill itself is pretty small.
I do the ear thing for my elderly cat's thyroid condition. 2x a day, I actually think she likes the application process.
My cat started off skeptical but now just relaxes when I hold her and put it on. I think the benzos have her trained.
ours was on various pills for the last 3-4 months and he was pretty chill. just opened his mouth and popped em in there. he also had an inhaler for a while that went pretty smoothly. that said one of our other cats would be real tough if we had to give her pills. just depends on the cat
I can pick up one of my cats and carry him around for pretty much as long as I want and he doesn't care. Try to move him 1 inch over so I can sit on the couch normally? Claw in my hand
Went from zero to touchdown in less than a year lmbo. gray one’s the mama, saved her from a snowstorm and she was preggo. go cat
Took my cat into the vet fully expecting him to have to be put down last week. Turns out he was having an irritable bowl disease flair up and refused to poop. He was getting septic and vomiting so he was about to die. Couple hundred bucks later with some stronger steroids and B12 and he is doing better.
Didn’t want to say anything so as to not be a Debbie Downer, but my kitty died suddenly two weeks ago. She was a neighborhood stray that showed up out of nowhere on thanksgiving last year. a neighbor found her dead on the sidewalk near my place. No obvious injuries, not sure what happened. I had just found out she was less than two years old, and accepted she was gonna be mine for a while. Literally got a back ordered shipment of cat food just now, fuck.
There is nothing quite as emasculating as weeping over the corpse of a cat on the streets of LA being comforted by strangers.
Nothing better than delivery day. And so, so sorry for your loss NDJOECA. You still gave her a great home and life during the time you had her, and for that she was forever grateful. It’s never easy, but it does get easier.
so, not to show y'all how trashed my back yard is rn (or that my bricks need to be repointed), but one of the cats in the hood got up on my roof today to say hello to my s.o. while she was at her desk working.
The gray one is very pretty, but I’d scratch both of their ears. I have no idea where you live, but that’s a barrel chested outdoor city cat right there.
So we are now having a cat pissing issue. What we've found out is one, or both, the cats are pissing in the house sometime between the time I leave to go to work and the wife gets up. It started out only happening when I would leave to go to work, which is around 6 am, and my wife slept in on her days off. It's now progressed to probably almost immediately after I leave to go to work because my wife is now seeing piss when she gets up to get ready to go to work, around 6:30 am.
*no idea how it got up there. But I've seen it climb up in trees **no idea whose cat it is, if it belongs to anyone. ***If it's someone's cat, I would prefer they kept it inside because a.) it's not going to end well in this city (cars, rat poison, antifreeze, etc.) and b.) I'm pretty sure it's killing the hell out of the birds around here. ****it's totally friendly and chill, and I'd take it in if I didn't have a very elderly arthritic cat that hates other cats.
We moved yesterday. Our old condo was a one level, very open floor plan. The cats being almost 1 year and 7 months respectively, had only known that as their home. The new place has 4 levels and a spiral staircase that is quite steep and runs top to bottom. My fiancé has been freaking out that the cats won't want to use the stairs, or will be afraid of them. This has been their existence today:
Anyone ever board their cat? I’m going to be gone about ten days. I had lined up someone to come over for an hour or two a day (paid) but she’s flaking on me. These places say they play with them every day but not sure if I believe them. I’ve never had to board my pets cause I’ve always had roommates.
we pay a pet service to come over every few days to clean litter/play with them, but we also have more than one cat so they play together while we're gone.
Boating in the Greek isles today and we stopped for lunch on an island with cats all over. This guy was following us so we made sure he could have a place at the restaurant and gave him some sea bass. These cats live their best life.
I did one time. They handled it about as poorly as imaginable. They refused to eat and drink for several days and ended up having to cut the trip short to come home and get them so they wouldn't kill themselves.
I did for trips longer than 3-4 days. Never had any issues really but I also tried to find places that gave him more space or had rooms with windows and time every day out of their "condo"
I have a stray update. There's actually 2 outdoor boys -- Ferdinand and Jimmy. Great cats, trying to get them adopted. I'll post pics later (or more likely tomorrow)
One of our cats has a vaccine sarcoma on his back leg and is getting it amputated on the 18th. Sucks man. Doc said the average life expectancy after removal and chemo is 18 months BUT because my wife has been giving him his vaccines pretty far down his leg that he is a good candidate to exceed that time frame by a good bit.
