Dolan, on the other hand, will probably run sales promos in the greater Raleigh area if suites don’t sell-out.
also guys, who gives a shit what the NY Post has to say? we're better than that. not that we're good or anything, but that's the bottom of the barrel.
I knew we were trying to match up the Staal line with Bergeron’s, but didn’t realize it was this sharp of a contrast. Home ice last change basically decided the series.
Pardon my ignorance, but is there a reason the Blues and Avs aren’t playing tonight? They’ve been done since last Thursday
FSG is a really analytically driven company, so it doesn’t shock me that they aren’t going to offer huge deals to those guys. Curious how that works out in the interim.
I concur. I think Malkin is worth 3x8 or something along those lines. The Pens window is basically going to be cracked open for 3-4 more years anyway. Lock him in for the duration.
I’m the opposite. The Pens don’t have any other defensemen who can carry the big minutes Letang does. You could argue Matheson, but I think he’s a much better 2nd pairing guy. He can be brilliant or he can skate himself into a turnover as he carries into the offensive zone. Malkin has fallen off, granted he’s coming off significant knee surgery, but I don’t think physical regression is going to be kind to him. If he’d be willing to take a notable pay cut, I’d be all for bringing him back. Ultimately, I don’t think it matters as the window is likely closed, but FSG is known to be quite aggressive when it comes to remaining competitive. I’m very interested to see what happens with Rust. If they’re priced out, I’d love to see them use the money on Rakell. Letting McCann walk and extending Carter is looking rather poor in hindsight.
3x15 seems like a pretty fair offer for Letang. Probably worth 8M this coming year, 5M next, and 2M when he’s 37.
Problem is from what I've read is Letang has no interest in a hometown discount and the market for dmen is just insane. His body won't survive 5-6 years that some crazy team will give him and Pens should not match that. I think you take the Letang money and shift it to Rust and hope Malkin takes a 3x6.5-7ish. I'd like to see NHL teams learn from NBA and rest guys more often. Malkin and Crosby having minutes managed til late in the year would be so much smarter.
Well duh. The entire playoff is a small sample size. This is just commentary on how well they played in the first rd.
Im not an expert of metrics like these, but I generally understand top right is good. For Raanta is the interpretation that he didn’t face a ton of high danger shots (xG) but that he stopped a slightly above average amount of the ones he did see?
That chart doesnt show high danger vs low danger, just the total of xG. For instance lets say a ton of shots from the point w no screen is worth .1 xG. but high danger chance in the slot is worth .5 xG. It could be the Canes allowed just a ton of point shots and very few slot shots, or just a few high danger shots. Relative to the rest of the teams, CAR didnt allow a ton of shots that amassed a high xG. And yeah he was above average in stopping them.
I don’t know anyone that didn’t have NBC Sports but had to use Sling TV to watch most of the first round.
https://theathletic.com/3310759/2022/05/17/nhl-mock-draft-2022/?source=emp_shared_article First round mock I know he's got size and tools, but I'm always a little wary of taking forwards like Slafkovsky who don't produce much as prospects in the top 5. If I'm the Devils I think I'd rather go with Nemec or Jiricek.
I worry about a big guy like him being able to effectively use his size playing a North American game. I like his tools and I suspect he will be a consistent 20-30 goal guy but he’s definitely a huge risk.
I'm getting nervous. I also haven't been to a Panther playoff game in person since they got swept by the Devils in 2000. I'm wearing my red Bure jersey tonight (since I wore it for games 4,5,6 vs Caps). The last time I went to a playoff game, Bure was on the team.
I still think Winnipeg should blow it up, but if you're going to have another go at it with this core, that's probably the best option/fit they could hope for. If there's anyone out there that could fix their issues on the back end, it's Trotz.
that's the only thing I remember because it was so pathetic. And apparently my childhood memory is broken because this never happened.
