I looked into it but it was cost prohibitive and the panels would have to be on the street facing roof which my wife did not approve of

I'm in the market for a new lawn mower. I don't need a rider...what is a good quality push mower than you guys like?

Honda makes good units. Anything with a Briggs and Stratton engine is a decent purchase. Personal preference, but I prefer simpler set ups and don’t like bells and whistles like push to start buttons. Just more shit that can break.

So we bought a bit of a fixer, and had to take down an old cheap-ass looking drop ceiling in the basement for the entire house to be replumbed from corroded galvanized piping to pex. It's a raised ranch, with all plumbing run around the joists of the walkout basement. I originally thought about drywalling the ceiling as a replacement, but it seems like a new drop ceiling might be more functional for repairs or new wring and plumbing if needed. Has anyone used any of the "nicer" suspended ceilings from Armstrong or the like? Or would just going drywall be the solution here?

I had a honda that I didn't turn on for almost 2 years. Fired right up when I went to sell it.

Honda if you have the money.

I went with a $200 Cub Cadet. Great walk behind mower and I would buy one again if not for being discontinued.

I know the lawn thread crew will look down on this, but I would consider electric the next time around.

We should probably get a small push behind to mow the small hill behind and beside our house. Can't get to them with the tractor and don't want to weed wack them. We had a push mower but it was holding together by wires then wouldn't start last year.

Bought a greenworks electric mower for steep ditches that works great for this purpose. Going strong for 4-5 years w zero maintenance.

Man I had an old Craftsman mower which I had beat to hell for years. It never failed to start up and I treated it like crap.

Finally decided to get it serviced and took it to Sears for them to service it. They said give us 6-8 weeks. I forgot about it and three months later (it was during the winter) I called up and they couldn’t find my mower. Literally no one could find it. So Sears ended up buying me a new mower.

It’s a Briggs and Stratton but if you let it sit a while without running it; it’s a bitch to get started. So I keep a couple cans of brake cleaner around to give it a boost every once in a while.

I still miss that POS craftsman I used to have.

Have you considered leaving it exposed and instead painting the joists/everything exposed? We did that and installed can lights and I’m pretty happy with it.

Yeah, that's the third option for us. The basement is already semi-finished (Carpeting, wet bar, crappy wood paneling). Maybe the best option is to just leave it exposed as a casual space, and focus more on the upstairs for now. We can always come back to it later.

I've got a pretty small lot, went with a Ryobi electric. I'm happy with it, went ahead and got the trimmer and blower that use the same batteries.

Not really. My Ameraucana (blue egger) got killed a few years back by a what I assume was a opossum. No issues since.

I'm pretty close to Downtown and solidly in the city, so there isn't the usual amount of predators as there would be in the outskirts of town. Raccoons are the one you really have to worry about.

Had a few raccoon murders of my ladies last year. Very tragic, but built the remaining/new ones a nice secure upgraded space to prevent a repeat.

Learned the hard way that the monsters really do come out at night.

For sure, I put motion cams in my backyard and if I start to see a critter I will manually close the door to their run at night.

I have also debated on purchasing this

This is exactly what we did and are very happy with it. They covered everything besides the ceiling/wires/plumbing/HVAC and spray painted the entire ceiling. Looks great and so much better than the old shitty drop tile.

Welp, flooded my kitchen tonight. We have a farmhouse sink, no overflow thing. Turned it on to soak a small rack from my Egg, walked outside to check on Egg, got a phone call, forgot for a good 15-20 minutes. Came back in to 1/2 inch of water over probably a 20 foot area. Used a shop vac to get it up but there's a small amount leaking out from under the island trim, no matter how many times I dry it. Two or three seams in the lvp floor are bubbling up water too. How fucked am I?

My front door was out of alignment and I most likely did some goofs installing my handleset/deadbolt. I had a real door guy take it off and fix it. Watching someone who's good at their stuff is pretty neat.

Yeah i did. I built that about a year ago out of redwood as I wanted it to be a decorative barrier between my yard and parking area.

I will try to find what I used and let you know
