Maybe they were originally booked and creative changed. Who knows. No point in flying someone in to sit in catering.
He better tread lightly. He's a good hand but if he starts becoming a problem they'll separate him from Caster so quickly, putting him in some Dark/Elevation purgatory. Edit to add: It also pisses me off. You're a contracted worker who gets plenty of shine. The Acclaimed are on TV A LOT. If it's your turn to sit the bench, shut the fuck up and be a team player.
If you currently never or rarely watch WWE, and AEW closed up shop in 5 years, would you start watching WWE regularly?
To be clear, I didn't say she could carry anyone, but she's capable enough to work with anyone and be carried to a good match. She's on par with John Cena circa 2004-2005.
Gargano's run of ppv matches during nxt's heyday was incredible storytelling in the ring, Danielson's probably the only tiny guy I'd put on his level in that regard
I'm sure there are some guys upset with the top guys from the show they beat in the ratings coming over and jumping them on the card. The Acclaimed kind of referenced this in one of their raps a few weeks ago. Maybe that was a shoot, brother. The one big happy family stuff was only going to last so long. A job always becomes a job.
Linda been gone for over a decade. Shane got fired. Stephanie leaving. HHH cucked when he was out for health reasons. McMahon hold on WWE falling apart.
That place is run like Westeros. Vince is the Mad King and under him is a small council of boobs all plotting against each other, trying to seize more and more control as the old man's mind continues to shrivel.
Watched that live. Laughed my head off. They put the title on Hogan to capitalize on the nostalgia wave. Immediately after they did Raw's ratings dipped to panicking levels, so they hot shotted it to Undertaker. None of that was ever supposed to happen. Triple H was supposed to carry it for a few months. In fact, he was supposed to be the last WWF champion. Instead it was (more fittingly) Hogan, who won it just before the switchover to "WWE"
this seems problematic. They were going to make a big splash and then nothing??? They really missed the boat on getting a much better contract renewal
Yeah Warner not having them at up fronts is not good. Seems like this might be leadership that doesn't give a shit about wrestling.
I take it as the leadership has bigger fish to fry. The new CEO has put out an edict that all HBOMax movies have to be budgeted at 35 million or less. He's making cuts to the big stuff. Right now, AEW isn't commanding a lot of money. I expect it to stay exactly like it is, though Battle of the Belts might be cut. In a year, when it's time to renegotiate, it might be a different story, but for right now I don't think AEW is really on the new management's radar the way they would be if they were a big money sink.
HHH and Steph have been running hard since the 90s…. HHH was nearly dead so it doesn’t surprise me if they decided it was time to get off the road and the grind and be a family together. They are multimillionaires who are set for life. Enjoy life…
I don’t blame them. They were part of an OG crew who battled WWE and took out NXT…. They are rewarded by those same NXT talents taking more important roles on the show they built. Will be fun to see AEW adjust to very good talent leaving the company because they aren’t featured properly. Cody is only the first of what will be many.
Nick and Tony Khan are actually related and are using Cody to take down Vince from the inside The KHANsortium is taking over the industry
He did a LOT of steroids. I don't know if he's still using but his heart isn't in good shape and never will be again.
AEW will be fine. Dynamite is pulling in nearly 1m viewers steady every week. Somebody is going to give them a bag of money to have practically guaranteed results for 52 weeks.
It was allegedly a work, though I can’t imagine why. Perhaps it was a work, but I don’t find it believable that the plan was for him to be stuck there for like 8-10 minutes like I read he was.
It was the same deal as Punk laying in the ring until all the fans left. Just giving something to the crowd before they cut the lights out.
Shows how much the athletic side of things has evolved. A move like that was unique back then but is commonplace today.
I don’t know how much things have evolved athletically or how much dudes work less for more money and are willing to take risks, the business model has changed where they don’t just save stuff like that for special shows, and guys back then who did that stuff would tell other people not to steal their shit
