Heading to DC in 11 days for the first time. Hanging in town for 5 days and then heading to go Annapolis for my cousin’s graduation at the Naval Academy. Will be hanging out with Guns one night for sure. Besides Other Half, what other breweries do I need to be on the lookout for?

Did you end up making one of these trips? We’re debating between the same as you and curious what made you chose one over the other.

It's not a brewery but we want on a "tour" of the O Mansion once in DC and it was a fucking rad experience. Basically you're walking through the most insane house imaginable trying to find hidden trap doors to secret rooms. Pretty sure they had a full bar too.

Las Catalinas in the NE Pacific coast is pretty great for low key stay. Close to a bunch of more local towns but quiet on it's own. <1 hr from Liberia airport

Nosara is a gem but a bit harder to get to.

Going on my first vacation in 5 years and first ever trip to europe with a buddy of mine.

Amsterdam then to the hague, then we have 10 days to pick whatever strikes our fancy before meeting up with another friend for 4 days in albania.

What would be the best places to hit in between netherlands and albania? definitely want to see venice before it sinks.

Really a no brainer of a city to visit with that setup. I would recommend taking a train into the country even though it’ll be more expensive because the view from the car is great

We were debating getting the eurail pass but it really seems like it works out cheaper to just buy individual tickets.

Depending on how many cities you travel to, it comes out better with the pass but when I did my trek it was cheaper to do individual. The train I was on from Berlin to Prague had authentic Pivo to drink which was optimum

If you have any interest in outdoor things Plitvice National park in Croatia and Durmitor National Park in Montenegro are two of the most beautiful places I've ever been.

I'd try to keep it to two MAYBE three cities. Don't fall into the trap of trying to see everything.

A lot depends on what yall are trying to do. If you want unspoiled nature, I'd fly from Amsterdam down to the Balkans and maybe check out Croatia (see above, Plitvice is incredible). Could also do the mountains in Switzerland/Austria.

Italy would be cool for 10 days, maybe 3 days in each city? See some history and catch a ferry from SE Italy to Albania (or to Dubrovnik - point is it is close and the ferry would be a cool experience).

If you want to party, then Berlin to Prague is a no-brainer. Easy and beautiful train ride between the two.

Ended up doing this. Flight is next Friday. Rent car, then drive an hour or so to Sparkle City.

Yesterday I found out driving to Spartanburg from where I live is about 4.5 hours . Never bothered to check and just figured it was farther than I wanted to drive (my cutoff for driving vs flying is about 5 hours of driving).

Currently trying to cancel flights and car rental. Feel incredibly dumb for not looking.

Has anyone spent any time in Kuala Lumpur or Singapore? I know the latter is expensive AF -- is Malaysia as well?

Probably going to spend 2-3 weeks in Asia after Nepal, but the only nonstop/easy flights out of Kathmandu are to Kuala Lumpur. Wondering if it's worth spending a few days there before going to Hanoi. Or Chiang Mai. Maybe Indonesia.

Was going to check out Sri Lanka, doesn't look like it anymore unless shit gets better.

I’m also in Switzerland right now, specifically Zurich (and will head to Luzern tomorrow). I was in Milan previously and the train ride from Milan to Zurich was amazing. Zurich is a beautiful city too.

It’s also been 30 degrees celsius every day here, which is not what I expected from Switzerland in mid May.

Not at first glance. That's my route on the way over, tho.

Most likely going to fly to KL and stay somewhere nice for a few days after the trek. Can basically go anywhere from KL so it's up in the air. Want to explore Komodo/lesser-known Indonesia but not sure if 2 weeks is enough time.

Tried flying KTM-SIN last month and only flight was booked solid. Had to backtrack the other way around the globe.

I can’t speak on Singapore. Had a 12 hour layover a few years ago. Incredible airport. Never left. I will be flying thru there in mid-July for a Bali trip. May stay for 24 hours either on front or back end. Hotels did look expensive.

Have you looked at the Philippines at all?

singapore hotels and drinking are expensive but eating is pretty cheap and some of the best in world. I think its definitely worth a stop, just skip the ultra luxury hotels and the rooftop bars that charge $20 for a beer.

I walked by it earlier this afternoon. Luzern is indeed awesome, and also quite small so a perfect place to spend a day.

Croatia/Hvar is close to Albania... Love that place.

If you want to party, Belgrade is wild, but the city itself isn't that pretty.

My fav eastern European city is Krakow.... Highly recommend. It's got the best mix of culture, beauty, and nightlife. Also, the food there is delicious.

Of the big 3 eastern European cities (Vienna, Budapest, Prague) -- I personally like Budapest the best, but you can't go wrong with any of the 3.

Agree with BamaNug, but some of the Day of the Dead shit is kinda crazy (not good crazy). Patzcuaro is one of the big DOD trips from Mexico City and while I was pretty young, my most vivid memories a around nearly getting trampled and then nearly getting pushed off a dock and my dad holding me by my shirt while holding onto a stranger cuz the crowd to get on a ferry was so fucking nuts. My dad remembers a lot of fights and shit breaking out on that island, but I was prob too young to know wtf was going on.

Most of it in Mexico City is pretty chill from what i remember, just random fireworks and shit and crowded cemeteries. The whole tourists going through cemeteries while locals are having meals with their deceased thing will never not be weird to me (pretty much all sides of it, including bringing Tío Pepe his favorite cigs and tequila), but I get that its an interesting cultural deal.

I think Ive got a fairly recent CDMX post in here and prob some other recs, but let me know if there’s anything you’re specifically looking for that you’re not finding.

Anybody have a honeymoon planning site or strategy they can recommend? Likely getting married in July 2023 and I DGAF about anything ceremony related (other than cost). My focus is on finding a 2 week trip that keeps us both happy. Fiancée loves beach relaxing and I can’t sit still.

Went to Kenya a few years ago and Africa is my favorite place Ive ever been to. Did the Maasai Mara safari thing and am still obsessed with it, but I think July will miss the great migration (I was there late July and early August and it was wrapped). Really want to see the gorilla colonies in Rwanda.

Wondering if its doable to mix (1) the gorillas, (2) a true 4-5 day safari (at a fancy lodge, like the Four Seasons in Tanzania) and (3) a beach like maybe Zanzibar. No particular order these need to be in, but mixing the beach in between Rwanda and a safari would prob buy me some goodwill.

Trying to get absolutely titted with points over the next 6 or so months (and already have a mountain of them to start with). Goal is Emirates from NYC to Nairobi via Dubai for the showers and shit (Im a sucker, I know). Feel like Nairobi is a good jumping off point for my fiancée who is a little newer to the travel game since its pretty contemporary and somewhat western (other than the armed guards fuckin everywhere), but open to other ideas like Dar or Mombasa.
