I’ve never tried on the newer models but I’m sure it would look ridiculous on my small wrists. If they made a submariner date without the cyclops, that would be a perfect watch.
Going through my grandfather’s things after he passed we found an old watch. From doing some online sleuthing I think it’s a ‘51 Bulova Watertite. Mechanical and still winds and keeps good time. 15mm lug width which isn’t standard but think I was able to find a strap for it. Should be here tomorrow.
That's really cool. I do always laugh at how narrow vintage lugs are (or how we've jumped the shark today) Also sorry for your loss
Thank you and I’m sure I’ll wear it every once and a while just because I think it’s cool and I’m sure it will feel very weird. Case diameter is 10mm smaller than my next smallest.
I think the Monaco is cool, but I’d never buy one. I received a quartz Formula 1 for a sales goal and sold it after five years of casual wear. Overall the brand is in a weird spot where there’s a lot better watches for the money maybe?
Yeah I just stumbled across an Aquaracer for a decent price, so I pulled the trigger. I'm sure I will casually wear it from time to time, but not in love with it.
If you bought it preowned you’ll probably sell it for pretty much what you bought it for when you’re ready for something else. Enjoy it.
Hoping it’ll be here by the weekend, I’ll post it. Just another fun, sub $1k watch I’ve been eyeing for a few months.
This is probably the most absurd episode they've ever done. Guy has hundreds of Pateks, many 1 of 1. He has his own curator and watchmaker just to make sure his watches all work. Never worn a bunch of them. Kinda obnoxious. I'd think after watch like #35 he could find better shit to spend money on than watches he never wears.
Love it! Still on the fence, on getting the white face version for myself. Got strong indications I might be getting a call soon.
I was torn between this one and the white face. Actually initially ordered the white and changed my order at the last minute. I’m happy with the blue but I’m sure I would’ve loved the white/silver dial as well.
I’ve been wanting a Rootbeer GMT for a while and finally got the call today. It turns out it’s the full Everose gold GMT. He gave me the weekend to decide and I’m torn because it’s more than I want to spend but I know I won’t lose money.
Sweet watch but the losing money part of it is really on relevant if you’re planning to sell it any time soon. I won’t lose money on a gold nautilus, but doesn’t mean I want to pay retail for it either. I think it just matters if you’ll regret spending that amount of money on it.
Here’s my summer fun watch. Found a jeweler that’s selling them for 20% below msrp, it’s a cool watch. Excited to get the right size bracelet for it now.
I mostly didn’t pull the trigger on the Zenith a few weeks back because I was “afraid” this would happen.
Congrats. It's an awesome watch. Went to see my AP dealer last week and was told that basically every watch he gets from them has to be pre-approved by AP--submit the buyer's resume kind of thing. Makes it a challenge to ever get a watch when guy with 10+ APs is always the first call. I'm resigned to waiting 5+ years for a blue or green dial chrono.
Thank Man. I wish I had access to local ADs with more brand offerings. My grail is a VC Overseas & I know I’ll never get an opportunity to buy retail. I’ve leaned into the relationships I can make in Jax & have been fortunate.
A blue Vc overseas is on my grail list too. I feel like those are more attainable and less in demand than AP, Patek, and even some steel Rolex. Granted it was a few years ago, but I was able to walk into a dealer and try on an overseas. Wonder what the wait is now. That’s a watch I never see. Saw a royal oak and 2 nautiluses (5711 and 5712) just walking around last weekend, but not sure I’ve ever seen an overseas in public.
what is the retail price on it, if you don't mind saying? i've never bought from an AD and I'm curious how they price and how it all works given the aftermarket prices
