Lopez is a piece of work

The Lopez campaign would not answer questions about how the plan would work unless 9NEWS’ Kyle Clark would agree to a second sit-down interview with Lopez “face-to-face, to give you the exclusive here at the Campaign HQ in Parker, CO.”

FYI he got bitch slapped quite badly by Clark in the first interview...did not go well.

Folks sleeping on Tim Ryan. Labor has a lot of sway in OH. He's the kind of candidate that wins the endorsement and have the rank and file membership vote for him.

I’m pretty surprised by the Fetterman love on this board. He’s a progressive in name only. Dude’s policy positions (to the extent he has any) are centrist as hell.

I honestly don’t know much about his policies and looked this up. You don’t know if someone is about it until they’re voting for/against. This high level shit is at least an improvement over Toomey (unless fetterman ends up voting like sinema), and he doesn’t accept PAC money.

I think to at least partially explain this you have to ask yourself an important question. How many on this board grew up watching professional wrestling? Dude looks like he should be wearing a one-piece, boots, and knee pads while dropping promos on the campaign trail. I just hope he doesn’t turn heel.

Oh sure. There's plenty to be wary of. I was just excited to see Nancy Pelosi’s wet dream lose and am hoping that that means something to the Democratic Party at some point.

Also, he opposes the filibuster and has supported M4A in the past. Those are two things that should be a minimum for Democratic candidates at this point.

Yeah, I don’t expect him to champion it, but I also don’t think he’ll be against it if someone else were to advance it though. His recent hospitalization will hopefully remind him how shitty the whole process is for most people.

The more healthcare costs go up, the more outrage will grow. Some party is going to get a tidal wave of support by coming out in favor it at some point.

Either that or insurance/pharma dollars will capture all politicians and we’ll sink further into hell world.

I think the idea any institution can just do very unpopular things by huge margins into perpetuity and maintain public support is more of a naive position

There's a reason scotus on big issues has largely followed what has majority public support and Roberts is losing his mind trying to maintain trust in the court

My point is not that the current court aren’t monsters - they are. My point is that if m4a gets passed, it’s because it’s incredibly popular and the Court’s opinions are closer to be ignored than they have been since Abraham Lincoln was president.

I don’t think the GOP plan intends on maintaining public support in any branch of government at any level to maintain power. Especially not when their political opponents let them continue to act in bad faith nearly without any accountability.

So basically we need another civil war-type event to open up a world where M4A is possible.

"Ignore the Supreme Court" is some level of revolution that I don't see the D party rising to

I don’t think it necessarily rises that far. The court’s been ignored in the past. A president could do so again. No doubt his opponents would seize on it to paint him as a tyrant, but they’re going to do that already to any president that passes m4a. Mandating m4a continue after an unfavorable Supreme Court ruling seems much easier than enforcing abortion rights will/would be. That will, unfortunately, lead to a war.

fetterman is just very good at politics as well. he's got lefty cred by being a bernie guy in '16, pro weed, etc but they'll overlook some of his centrist positioning on israel and fracking etc while that gets his moderate cred up.

the being a giant thing is just bonus

Fetterman appeal seems to be more about rhetoric than policy. Dems desperately need a rhetoric overhaul so it makes sense

I don’t think there is polling to back this bc it isn’t asked but physical optics I feel is more of a swing factor and it usually isn’t acknowledged by campaigns or voters. Fetterman looks like a guy that can get in a Biker Bar Brawl part of a party some consider ‘pussies’.

it is also why I think Whitmer would be a good National candidate bc she has that hot soccer Mom thing going and being a Governor she seems way more in touch in what average people are going through compared to D Senators who some have tunnel vision
