This is my 100% black pill moment. I can’t read/watch anything more. I’m sticking my head in the sand for a while. vince-carter-it’s-over.gif
Wish I could do this, I admire you for it honestly didn’t think I could hate republicans and cops more than I did before but here we are
Im waiting for Abbott and his literal criminal AG to prosecute the cops for not being the solution of school gun violence that they claim is the answer
I absolutely have to moderate my own viewing content. I feel like I'm already broken. Watching something like the clip of the emt who learned about his daughter from another child would send me over the edge.
Vote for the furthest left candidate you can. Try not to pay attention too much (this is the hard part). ^this is what I try to do. It's not working very well lately
Lol try to avoid ghost candidates tho. That’s literally how republicans won some elections in Florida
If there was a 6 year old threatening to stab his teacher, the cops would have been pouring into that building. Fuck them to hell
he won't do shit to those cops. they're already out there spinning this. they have been since yesterday, clearly they were already lying in that presser.
Couldn’t sleep last night got on twitter just started unloading on comments won’t do shit, called out Cruz as a joke of father , once again won’t do shit but at least I let it all out. Fuck this country, the city of Houston and it’s citizens should do everything in their power to ruin this NRA convention since they won’t cancel it make every mother fucker there as uncomfortable and unsafe as possible.
My breaking point has been the “response” from our govt officials, especially (obviously) the GOP. It’s disgusting. It’s theater. It literally has given me a 48 hour headache, spiked my anxiety, and is keeping me up at night. It’s all broken on purpose and that’s the feature. These people are psychopaths and deserve the worst.
I used to get the Twitter warning of are you sure you want to post that tweet with foul language I think it gave up.
people need to expand their imagination of political participation beyond just "vote" we just did that in 2020 and the democrats haven't done shit to materially improve a fucking thing
It's all the GOP. Look, I know, democrats are ineffectual wusses but this whole "look how the entire govt is failing us!" is how those ghouls in the GOP thrive. They need to be front and center, specifically named and tied to their shit. They love love love it when people decry "politicians."
Checking in on local florida FB news station posts and the consensus is we need to stop blaming cops and ask the hard hitting questions like why the back door wasn't locked.
my rhetorical then would be - why in the scenario where republicans hold a majority are they able to do "a bunch of terrible shit" without the democrats stopping it, yet when democrats hold the majority they're incapable of getting anything of substance passed? you see why that might exhaust people who are tired of hearing "well, we just need to vote harder this time and maybe the democrats will actually do something!" myself and probably everyone in this thread pays much closer attention to this stuff than the average voter, so it's self evident why democrats are still far better than republicans, but they're doing basically nothing to convince anyone outside that bubble, especially non-voters
lol the “propagandist” works for a foreign (British I think) news outlet the republicans really understand the way to frame anything not in their ideology as being unAmerican
I get the frustration but it doesn't warrant not voting because a lot of people will feel the effects of a Republican majority
There’s a very reasonable argument to be made that most Democrats are trapped in their own form of lethargy within the system themselves. Don’t rock the boat too much, don’t jangle the wrong purse strings…say what sounds good to keep getting the right votes, but don’t make enough changes that will make the wrong people uncomfortable. It’s not openly reprehensible like what you see from Republicans, but it’s a kind of apathy that’s still infuriating.
An even hotter take and one I know is going to get me yelled at is that not even police deserve to go up against 18 year old jackasses with body armor and automatic assault rifle, public spaces should not have the capability to turn into a war zone because someone is a angsty hormonal teenager
The republicans didn't get anything passed either. They did plenty of other terrible shit with their govt agencies control, the supreme court, all the appointed judges, executive orders etc. Stuff the democrats reversed for the most part. It matters a lot more than just being unable to pass bills with 50 members.
I agree completely but they get less sympathy from me because most are huge road blocks to any progress
even right now when supposedly “nothing has been accomplished” Kamala has broken more ties in the senate than any vice-president in like 150 years or some shit
i personally don't plan on taking that route (i fucking voted two days ago in a bunch of meaningless primaries in alabama lol) but i'm just saying i understand why it might be felt by a lot of people that don't have the mental disease of following this as closely as we all do
And our government agencies aren't just acting as an arm for corrupted billionaires to further enrich themselves
Which is fair, but also requires police to be less violent by themselves to warrant. All the lives on the line talk needs to ease up when school children are less safe than policemen, when those interacting with police are at greater peril than the police themselves. Id gladly see a more caring, less violent police but the police has claimed all the toys etc citing physical danger, if they do have a situation to pay up their end of the bargain they should surely rise to the challenge
I’m not an expert on this by any means, but maybe someone like WhiskeyDelta can chime in. My understanding is that cops are not really trained for combat and I think it’s a large part of why you see so many freak out and shoot someone that doesn’t deserve it. They are trained to take control of situations with superior force and then deescalate from there. The type of person that does what republicans are trying to argue for is probably not even your run of the mill army grunt or marine. It’s probably like a commando like a navy seal, green beret, ect… My point in all of this is that cops are not trained for combat they’re trained for control, and what Republicans are suggesting is laughable.
They'll find the lowest-acceptable man on the totem pole to make the scapegoat. Probably the local PD chief or something. Not saying that person wont deserve blame, they'll just be far from the only one. Abbott is protecting the Border Patrol for sure.
Same. I'll occasionally wander over to the political board to see opposing viewpoint takes and am always so shocked that I end up just having to shut things down for the day. These are high functioning, successful, educated people who reflect the Texas community at large, and it's disgusting. Physicians, business owners, engineers... all chuds beyond the scope of your imagination. There is no convincing them. They're buried in a sea of ideology mostly with their interpretation of Jesus as their authority that is unquestionable. We're entirely broken, and I'm at the point where I think they've won unless we literally go to war. Fine. Have this country. At least I'm way out west for now, but the conversation about ejecting is starting to get serious in my household
- Cops fail after more funding GOP: give them even more money! - Schools struggle after getting less funding GOP: give them less money! Also, make them defend themselves!
