Heard he was doing a bit of recruiting in the Northern Virginia/Maryland region so THERE IS YOUR ALIBI!!
I was a coach for my 7 yo’s baseball team this last season. The umpires were teenagers. We still had a parent or two every game laying into umpire kids to the point of borderline confrontation. The lot should be shot into the sun for ruining sports for everyone involved.
I cannot tell you the number of Clay Travis’s I saw during my career. I’m sure that 13 year old making $15/game deserved your shit ass attitude. jbr its the reason they only have teenagers and drunks to do games anymore, even travel ball. Working 10 hours in 90 degree heat for $150-200 doesn’t work unless that’s a lot of money to you or you need your Schlitz.
I umpired in HS. It was the worst job I’ve ever had. Worse than working for UPS during the summer in an un-airconditioned warehouse loading trucks Worse than laying sod for a land scaping company. Worse than having to do community service at Salvation Army and having to sort through donated clothes.
I reffed soccer games through high school...and while dealing with the shit bag parents at times sucked, I do think it benefitted me overall in the end. You're on an island out there and need to have a backbone or they'll eat you alive. Once I realized that and got over the hump, it was much easier dealing with those situations. The money was also very good. It's definitely not for everybody though.
Clay thinks yelling at strangers is going to prevent his kids from being unathletic dorks just like him
Witnesses say Clay was dragged to the parking lot screaming “just wait til I have my radio show on Tuesday, you’ll never hear the end of it!”
We get paid to enforce the rules you bitch. This story seems fake as fuck or clearly dipshit didn't know the rules of the tournament that bat rule about placing is to keep people safe from bats getting slung away. If he had talked about the coaches getting fired up and asking for rule clarification from the umps maybe the story would be believable but he just seems like every fucktard parent I had to deal with that didn't know the rules.
this is why every organization is struggling to find officials from high school down. And these stupid people wear it as a badge of honor.
I referee’d basketball in high school and my favorite part was the wild ass parents because when they’d show their ass the league director would kick them out no questions asked. Witnessed some grade A meltdowns
Doing travel ball, my favorite moments were watching parents lose their shit at other parents I kicked out and said they wouldn’t leave the court or park, because I would threaten the team with a forfeit if the parent didn’t leave. They turn on those fuckers quick. I’ve also been police escorted out after 5-6 year old football games.
Oh, I bet it did and this was him getting his version out before Clay Travis was OutKicked by Little League Ump went “viral”
I will say it's not always the parents fault. User Biff Bridges is notorious for going full Joey Crawford during junior high girls games all across Central Nebraska
