Because their front line isn’t very good right now. Their midfield is Italy-quality, as is their back line. The front though has been decimated by injuries. The lack of quality front line replacements has been a disaster waiting to be exposed. My perspective is that Italy needs to revisit many things. The Serie A teams aren’t developing Italian strikers… Younger Italian forwards in Serie A do not get much playing time. The youth system seems to have some issues too.
I don’t think that was posted after the match but at a specific moment when they had a big chance. Also disagree about the attack, Immobile, Insigne and Berardi is fine for the attack and plenty good enough to win that game. Berardi just had a nightmare of a match finishing Front 3 has 42 goals and 19 assists in Serie A this season so yeah, that’s just not true
I know my opinion flies in the face of those statistics. Of the three, Berardi is currently the one that I like the most on the NT. He has 11 of the 14 Serie A assists mentioned. Immobile and Insigne just seem to have less pace these days. I agree with you that this squad is way more talented than North Macedonia and had no business not scoring a goal.
Yeah they've definitely lost a step but Immobile has 20 goals in 25 matches this season including scoring in 4 of last 6 before the break. If that’s “not very good” then I’m not sure what the bar for good is
You’ve made me change my mind about him…am I wrong though in thinking his NT production hasn’t been high?
You’re correct there, performance for club mostly hasn’t carried over. Decent but not great. Goals in both WCQ he started last Spring. 2G 1A at Euros but none in knockouts. 1G in 2 matches of WCQ then missed Nations League and 3 WCQ injured
xec is correct on his take. Immobile has a long history of scoring on bottom of the table teams in the league. When the lights are brightest he’s nowhere to be found. I would also add that the midfield is fantastic, but if you had to make a critique on the unit, it’s lacks someone with a creative flair. They defend, retrieve balls and control the pace as good as any unit. But with a front line that lacks a legit #9 the fact none of them can drop a Pirlo pass or make consistent runs into the box sticks out. On a side note it’s taken this long to jus town this thread. My mental head space has been awful. I will take no questions on the results. Respect my decision.
yeah dude jumped off the screen, had me all hot and bothered with the touch on his through ball that Dovbyk completely flubbed
