Not exactly documentary stuff but discovered Pop Goes Northern Ireland this week, highlights important events on a yearly basis(often tragic stuff from The Troubles) coupled with music from that year. Playlist starts in the 60s and goes to 2002.
Y’all gotta understand gays are the real threat to society not global warming. Also god damn fuck religion. It’s completely destroyed everything good
The crazy thing is in the UK it’s not even a religious issue cuz 90% of non-Irish Brits could give a fuck about (non-Muslim) religion. Here it’s just that “trans people are icky” and “we support traditional family values”.
It's always impressive how easily Loyalists come across as massive tools. And Derry Girls is such a great show.
Loyalists have been the tool of the wealthy and establishment Unionists for centuries. David Ervine was a tremendous loss, he had serious vision.
It’s a complete pain in the hole. Sinn Féin pretend that a United Ireland is the goal but in reality is it about accumulating political power north and south & retroactively justifying their terror campaign in the north. Unionists don’t need much to pull themselves apart. Brexit and underlying crackpottedness means their division was inevitable. That doesn’t mean a UI. SF’s vote has levelled off. They are so reviled by many that their attempts at monopolising the concept means many would never consider it. They never should have existed beyond 1998.
I remember hearing about this on the radio as a child but never really paid attention to the substance of it. Nuts.
Will absolutely watch this soon, Johnny Adair is such a fucking loser. His "documentary" with Donal Mcintyre (post-being kicked out of Northern Ireland has so many unintentional laughs. Love some of the youtube comments: ""I will be back and my son will be with me". Wrong on both counts there eh Johnny"
This jubilee stuff is just outside my understanding. Like I’m getting ads for the Sunday Times “Definitive Guide” to the jubilee and I’m just like…..this is for an elderly billionaire who does nothing
Not sure Her Majesty should be categorized as a billionaire. All that incredibly valuable stuff she has isn’t technically her property. It belongs to “The Crown”. It’s sort of like how Sleepy Joe can’t sell The White House and Air Force One because they belong to the office of the Presidency. Her face is on all the money so you’d think she’d be allowed to have as much of it as she wants. Shes two weeks away from being the second longest reigning monarch ever (Louis XIV was like two when he became king and she is two years shy of his record) Cardinal Mazarin was basically king of France for 15 years so Sun King’s French records are a bit like Lance Armstrong’s.
Per Forbes the crown controls 28 billion in assets, and the Queen personally has 500 million in assets. Whether or not the assets are fluid they still hold value and are being kept out of the hands of the citizens.
That 500 mil is probably Sandringham and Balmoral. What would you suggest do with those? Sell them to an Emirati oil baron? And that 28 Billion in assets is already accessible to the public and is huge for British tourism. The things you’re demanding be made liquid and distributed amongst the citizenry don’t have potential buyers outside of foreign museums. Most are already in British museums.
I don’t think anyone knows. It’s a blind vote, so in theory people (used liberally since it’s all Tories voting) can vote how they want. I’ve seen it’s a lock he survives this morning to the Tories preparing for the fallout when he doesn’t this afternoon
They should've waited. Cons are going to get clobbered in 2 by-elections on the same day later this month. But regardless, writing is on the wall. He'll hang on as long as possible though (can't face another no confidence vote for 1 year) because all the guy cares about is being prime minister. Such an awful politician.
Tories going to get crushed today in two different by-elections. One to Labour, one they might lose an incredibly safe seat to Lib Dems.
Looking like we're going to have a lot of strike action in the next few months. RMT now, Royal Mail, teachers union, and British Airways customer service are voting to strike as well
He’s also an idiot too though. He spent a lot of time propping up somebody accusing a lot of politicians/public figures of pedophilia. Problem was, all those guys were innocent, and the accuser was actually a pedophile.
And they lose both last night. One seat they won 60% of vote in last election, and their closest competitor had won 19.5%. Johnson won’t survive the summer. He’d be gone next week if they had waited to have the no confidence vote now rather than shooting their wad too soon.
Wales enjoys bootlicking England too much I fear. Perhaps its not too late. But large % of them bought the brexit lies. Now let them eat cake.
Given how much of a Labour stronghold it is i wonder how the next election will swing that if the Tory's manage to hold on to power
