This was another option that's much more functional but I don't think it looks as good. It would have the same riser on the back, just different layout

a.tramp the pool in those pictures is 6 feet from the house in the deep end. He's changing it to only 5 feet feom the house so it'll be 1' longer.

dblplay1212 the first thing you are doing wrong is building a pool.

After that, it is mostly a matter of personal preference combined with knowing what tour personal preference will lead to.

The best pool is completely round, then oval. The next is square or rectangle. From a circulation and cleanliness stand point. And that matters. Anytime you add steps, ledges, or niched out areas in the pool you are not going to have as good as circulation. That means dead areas for debris to accumulate and water is not refreshed as much. That leads to more overall maintenance cost.

Out of the 2 you posted, my experience would push towards the second one being a better design from a pool guy’s standpoint. Trust me when I say that the majority of pool cleaners will not clean an area of the pool if it is hard to get to. You can awkwardly get to every wall of the pool with a brush in the 2nd design, even in cold weather. The first design most likely will require someone to get feet wet to properly brush. Not a big deal in summer but probably will not happen in winter.

Have you considered the blueprint that shows you at a buddy's pool 5-10 times per season? I went with that option on the current house and it's been great

I have a 4 yr old that's a fish. We are at the pool 2-4 times a week so having an option to do that here and having it heated so she can swim all year makes it worth it to us.

Those windows are actually 8 feet apart irl. Would love to somehow change that exterior wall to where it could open up to a bar area inside that room. Swing open like French doors and have a bar set up in there.

I may be making this up, but I think at my last house there was some big difference for insurance purposes if the pool structure/deck was connected to the house or not. That may be worth a google search if you haven't already come across that.
