It would help their cause if they hadn’t copied and pasted their explainer verbatim from a few years ago with they did Israel shows
Sorry, I’m out of touch on this, why? I don’t care what the answer is, genuinely asking for an explanation.
There’s been a multi-year boycott of musicians and entertainers not playing Israel in solidarity with Palestine, and it took a step forward last year with roughly ~600 bands/musicians signing a pledge to boycott Israel. Big Thief played there two years ago, and put out a word salad about doing so. They announced another pair of shows there recently and copy/pasted the exact same word salad. Given what Big Thief claims to stand for and represent as a band, it’s quite a departure.
Working my way through the latest Sally Rooney novel and she drops an Angel Olsen mention Rooney refused to allow this to be translated into Hebrew
This whole thing is just bizarre. One dude is from there, so I get why they would play there. Then they say they don’t want to get involved, which is weird, especially when you are involved. I also get not wanting to be involved when your entire family still lives there and people kill each other like we post on TMB. Then they donate to a fund that’s part of the cause…..and get blasted, lol. Nothing is transparent.
that mj lenderman has popped up on almost every mid year list Ive seen. will have to give it a go, seemed relevant to my interests based on the few clips I listened to
just saw Mac Demarco cancelled his recent tour dates, but seems like it is because he needs to finish his album [UPDATE]: Barely a month after announcing a slate of worldwide tour dates, Mac DeMarco has canceled his shows planned for North America in November, as well as June, September, and October European dates. The cancellations come as DeMarco continues his work on five easy hot dogs. “Hello, Mac D here. I need to continue work on five easy hot dogs, I’m afraid I have to cancel some shows this year because of this,” the indie singer-songwriter wrote. Not all of them, but a good chunk of them. Don’t get me wrong, I love live rock and roll music, and for cancelling [sic] I’m so sorry. Once I’ve completed what I have to do, I promise to come and share.” DeMarco retained his upcoming stop at Salt Lake City’s Kilby Block Party on Friday, as well as his dates in Seattle, WA and throughout California in August. These include festival sets and Seattle’s Day In Day Out in addition to the inaugural This Ain’t No Picnic in Pasadena on August 27th–28th. Tickets for all canceled shows will be automatically refunded. Scroll down for a list of revised tour dates.
Been enjoying this one since it came out. Anyone with a song about seeing Dan Marino in a South Carolina Harris Teeter is good people in my book.
I enjoyed it. fairly lo-fi at times, but pretty good. Not one of my absolute favorites this year, but a good listen.
Oso Oso has been a standout album for me this year. Catchy songs, emo sounding vocals. They are playing at my local shithole venue!
this isn’t my cup of tea (or anyone else’s ITT) but it’s rather good. I could see him opening up for a big crossover headliner like HAIM or some shit
All of his music sounds way too similar for me to get into anything new he puts out. Just feels like I've heard it all before. Salad Days was the first thing of his I heard, and I loved it. Nothing since has grabbed me.
