Season 1 of stranger things leaves so many unanswered questions and they become answered as the series progresses. There’s no way I could just stop after the first season
s1 is very good s2 is not good s3 is great s4 is awesome I will say, I haven't rewatched s2 or s1 in a long time but if s4 was the first and only season it would be miles better. I'm sure my brain is just fuzzy on some stuff but s4 is all encompassing with backstories that I feel like there might be some retconning going on that annoys me. But I think s4 is worth the journey by itself.
S4 takes a while to build and then pauses for the 2nd half of the season when it finally gets good First couple episodes were cringy. The acting was over the top in the HS cafeteria and gym.
I think, at least for me, it was getting over the aging of the characters and the age of the new characters. After an ep or two, I kinda got over it and enjoyed it a lot more. Also helps that ep 4 kicked ass and really got the season going.
I felt like it was a better version of uncut gems. Uncut gems was a clusterfuck IMO. This seemed like a more organized version of the same movie with less BS.
interesting input Stringer Bell ohhaithur I thought what (among other things) made UG soo good was the absolute frenetic energy and intensity...or "chaos" that you alluded to. It was by design/part of the moral, imo.
Couple of notes on Hustle Spoiler - They fucked up the ending by making him a Celtic. Any other team would have been better - Moe Wagner being the shitty German bust was good sorry Celemo - I had no idea that was Anthony Edwards tbqh. - First time in my life I liked a Jazz player
lol, Watched it last night Spoiler I really liked the movie, I mean it ain't Citizen Kane or anything but I got sucked in and the run time (almost 2H) didn't bother me Wagner being the German bust was pretty solid Juancho was pretty good Kenny Smith going on about the titties at the pool Yeah I had no idea that was Ant Edwards as the heel until the credits rolled...was gonna IMDB that shit because I didn't recognize him Dirk pretending to not know Sandler was great
The last season of Peaky Blinders dropped today. Damn excited to watch it but also not looking forward to never having a new season or episode of it ever again.
Finished Under the Banner of Heaven last week and subsequently bought the book, which I’m now reading. It’s taking every part of me to hold off watching this until I finish the book.
A few eps into Hache, Spanish crime drama about heroin smuggling in Barcelona in the 60's. Pretty stylish, entertaining... Leading lady is *whew*
Finished the first ep. of the last season of Peaky Blinders that just dropped. Tommy Shelby means fucking business. This is awesome.
Spoiler Juancho Hernangomez played for the Celtics in real life at the time. Those were really warm ups for a Celtics-76ers game
looks like I got haxxed, kept asking me to select a subscription plan when I signed in and none of my saved payment info was showing up in my profile, when I was able to get control again (pretty easy process btw, gotta hand it to them) there were like 6 different profiles on my account with the main one I use having a new name oh well, at least they couldn't access my card info, time to get Peaky
after much anticipation, I fire up the first episode to find my audio preferences had been switched to Spanish
ill be honest I dont remember the plot points specifically to remember if you need them or not for s4, s3 is definitely more important from what I remember
What’s the general gist of Stranger Things? I love the 80’s but didn’t feel like watching a kid’s show. I’m guessing it’s more than that and no only faced on 12-14 year olds?
S4 is straight up gore/horror basically. It is far from a kids show. I kinda expected the series to go downhill but man S4 has been terrific so far. The Hawkins scenes were great, Cali scenes dragged but Argyle was incredible and the scene at Susie’s house was hilarious, Russia dragged but ended on a really high note. Overall really good stuff.
s1 is like ET crossed with the Goonies, with a little bit of horror/mystery s3 is a bit more horror crossed with 80s mall vibes s4 is practically nightmare on elm street no part of any of it is a "kid's show", it's just that 80s vibe where a group of kids get together and get into shit
S2 was just the filler season that introduced a lot of the characters/storylines that would be more important later on
