Definitely Son in there. Feel like Mane didn’t have his best season but no obvious snubs in attack than Son

Maybe Rodri or Fabinho over Thiago

3rd most goals in the PL and most of any striker. What's the issue with Ronaldo?

I thought Cancelo/Robertson and Thiago/Fabinho/Rodri were both toss ups so makes sense that they split it.

His inclusion is fine but he’s at best #5 attacker IMO behind Salah, Son, Mané, Kane

I can't really argue with that. Although I will say he had more goals/assists than Mane.

Just found it odd that that's what stood out to him. Not Son's laughable omission or over half the players coming from the team that finished 2nd in league.

Ronaldo provides absolutely nothing besides goals and was inconsistent all year providing that. He was nowhere near a top 3 attacker

9 of his 18 goals and 1 of his 2 assists coming against clubs that finished 3-7 impacts my thoughts on that though

I’m not gonna do some dbl logic stats but I was referring to timing of his goals, he had 1 hot streak and a few long droughts.

This proves TheFreak55 correct. He thought they should’ve used the Ronaldo money for bigger needs.

If we are talking just at striker than his team didn't qualify for UCL. He had one more goal than Kane and Kane had 6 more assists and was instrumental in getting Spurs to UCL. Kane actually defends and works for the team as well.

Attaching player than Son is an obvious better choice.

Yes, Kane contributes more with assists and defense. He was also a ghost to start the season. 1 goal and 1 assist through the first 14 matches. Ronaldo had a better goals/assists per minutes played than Kane. Ronaldo was also playing in a completely dysfunctional and inconsistent team. United might have legitimately been a midtable team without him and he scored several key goals just to get us to 6th. Both players have an argument for inclusion and saying it's a joke for Ronaldo to be there is just dumb.

Son should have been in the team instead of Mane and I'm struggling to think of a reason for why he wasn't.

I stand by it. It is a joke and anyone who is not a MU fan knows that as well. The fact that Ronaldo only appeared in 30 matches and played 800 less minutes than Kane counts for something, because he wasn't paying and influencing the game that much more of the time. Even then, his conversion ratio is fractions better. Also, let's pick any imaginary anecdotal stretch of games and do the same for Ronaldo. Anyone who actually watches the games knows that Kane doesn't just get assists. He is involved in most of the build up play and goals for others even when he doesn't get the assist. He is a much better all around player at this stage of his career than Ronaldo. His assists often come from nothing as they are so inventive and well executed. Pull Kane out of Spurs and I think you see a lot worse result from Spurs than if you pull Ronaldo from MU. MU finished 2nd last year without him and went backwards with him. Somehow the team was not dysfunctional before he arrived even with his stats being added. I realize that correlation is not causation, but it's interesting how successful Juve and MU teams both started having issues when Rinaldo arrived.

Kane and Ronaldo are completely different types of players. You can't penalize him for not dropping deep and getting involved in the build up when that's not his game. Pick any stretch of games for Ronaldo that you want. It still won't compare to Kane being completely checked out to start the season after not getting the move to City. Kane is a better all around player but that doesn't change the fact that he was outscored by a 37 year old Ronaldo in fewer minutes.

Hard disagree on Kane being more important to Spurs than United this season. Cavani was "injured" the whole season, Greenwood assaulted his girlfriend, Martial was injured then off to Sevilla, and Rashford is in the worst form of his career. There was nobody else to lead the line. United finished 2nd in the covid year with no fans in the stands. I'm not sure that's a reliable metric for comparison. Juventus won 2 titles with Ronaldo. They finished 4th with 78 points and 77 goals scored in his final year there last season. This year they finished 4th with 70 points and 57 goals scored.

Maybe it is me but I think the guy in the team should be the best all around player in the position. There is no question that Kane was that.

    It was banter, of course.

But further quotes by Son’s dad actually are reasonable, saying to not get complacent, to always aim to be 10% better. So the Asian dad stereotype is there for never being fully happy (not world class) and he pushed Son ruthlessly hard his whole life, but I still think he’s proud.
