So where would our class, the ones mentioned today as likely to commit, + Moore x 2, Mpemba, Jagusah put us historically in class ranks?

Correct, although it really is in the range of a top overall class if you add a few more guys like greathouse, bell and freeling. Need to bat 1000 to have a chance for that though

to make a real charge at #1, we need the following:

all the guys who already have CBs in (Jagusah/Jason Moore/Greathouse/Micah Bell/Christian Gray/Rico/Hanafin/Ausberry)
we need a top QB (either Dante or Carr reclassifies)
one of M'Pemba/Caleb Downs (to add additional 5* power)

Jerimiah Love would be a nice bonus (he's skyrocketing up the ranks)
Freeling would be a huge deal too as he's already a top 100 player with a legit shot at 5*

Think we need both downs and mpemba for nr1 overall. Seems like this year talent is a bit more distributed compared to last 3 years but its early on. Youre not beating last years atm class even if you bat 1000

it's obviously hard to tell until some of these classes start filling up for Bama/UGA/OSU but just remember that a lot of the top guys we landed would be in their classes which boosts us up and hurts them

  16. I think one thing that should be appreciated is that this class should finish top 5 regardless and they have not had one like that in forever

  17. That being said, get everyone

ND draft info from Ryan Roberts

Hey y’all, I got access to some spring grades from the NFL. I wanted to share some of the interesting tidbits, including some verified measurements from this past Spring. Please keep this information in this thread. So quick info on how this grading works… there are two lists that come out each year, Blesto and NFS (this is from NFS). They each grade a year in advance to get a baseline for NFL scouts heading out on the trail. These grades SHOULD NOT be treated as the gospel. Things change a ton every year. Here are some interesting tidbits:

-Both Isaiah Foskey and Brandon Joseph were not graded. There could be several reasons for this. In Joseph’s case, it is most likely because he is a transfer. For Foskey, it could be a combination of things, like he wasn’t participating the day the scouts came in, Blesto already was through and graded him out, etc.

-The highest-graded player for Notre Dame was CB Cam Hart, who was graded as a second to third-rounder leaving the spring. He measured in as 6’2 5/8″, 198 pounds with 32 1/2″ arms. Really impressive measurements for Hart.

-Surprisingly, WR Avery Davis was the second highest-rated player for Notre Dame, boasting a draftable grade. Davis came in as 5’11”, 199 pounds, and 8 5/8″ hands. That hand size is not ideal and will be something that he is knocked for if that is his official measurement during the pre-draft process.

-LB JD Bertrand also holds a borderline draftable grade from NFS. He measured in at 6′ 7/8″, 227 pounds, and 30 1/2″ arms. That arm length will also hurt Bertrand a bit. His tackle radius isn’t ideal.

-It appears that NFS is lower on both IOL Jarrett Patterson and IDL Jayson Ademilola, which could be an outlier. We will see what Blesto thinks about both. I am under the impression that both will be big risers in the cycle. Patterson came in at 6’4 7/8″ and 307 pounds, which is a great frame inside. One note, his arm length (31 3/4″) isn’t ideal. That explains why he has settled into the interior at Notre Dame. It isn’t a detriment but might limit long-term looks at OG. The knock on Ademilola is going to be his size. He came in at 6’2 6/8″, 276 pounds, and 32 3/8″ arms. The arm length is solid but the weight will be a huge talking point in draft circles.

-CB TaRiq Bracy, LB Bo Bauer, S DJ Brown, WR Braden Lenzy, S Houston Griffith, and OL Josh Lugg all currently hold PFA (priority free agent) grades from the league. Here are measurements for a few of them:

    Bauer (6’2 3/8″, 233 pounds, 31 5/8″ arms)

    Brown (6′ 7/8″, 194 pounds, 31″ arms)

    Lenzy (5’11 1/8″, 181 pounds, 8 3/4″ hands)

    Griffith (6′ 1/8″, 199 pounds, 31 1/8″ arms)

    Lugg (6’6 7/8″, 308 pounds, 31 1/4″ arms)

Even with a Carr reclassification, it’s unlikely he’s a 5* player in this class so I don’t think it moves the needle much. He’ll probably land in the latter half of the Top 100.

that's still a pretty decent sized boost to the class, not 5* level but pretty big

those who have watched both throw this summer said Carr is just as good as Dante, he just lacks Dante's experience in football games since he has only played 1 year but he'll get another year of film out this fall

That Okie State bowl game was a fairly disappointing lesson in coaching, to put it mildly. Especially the decision making (overly conservative, took pedal off the gas), which falls primarily on the head coach. It also falls on the head coach to get the momentum back and that didn’t happen. Very little “identity” and too vanilla for my liking, so it’s understandable for recruits to wait to see the product on the field. Very reasonable business decision, even if we all want them to buy-in based on Freeman’s approach. My :twocents:

To play devil's advocate, if you want to go to ND (or Texas or...) and are going to be an impact player in the 2025 and 2026 seasons, why should you really use a 6-8 week time period in Sept/Oct 2022 to judge anything?

If its early November and ND is at its reasonable "worst case scenario" (schlacked by OSU and Clemson, loss to BYU or UNC on the road, drop one other game we shouldn't have and we're 5-4 going into Navy/BC/USC for a probable 7-5 finish) are you going to just say you've seen enough on the Freeman era? Single game play can be so random that we can be 10-2 and a house of cards this year or 7-5 and have a great foundation, not sure what he's gonna learn

Personally I think this has to be more of a recruiting misread than anything. The orchestrated hype machine makes me feel like nd asked the best writers to turn the heat way up to show the amount of nil potential (the paparazzi shoot etc) and then realized it was just fueling negativity and giving him bargaining power. It’s a shame but when kids have weird recruitments it rarely works out long term

Assuming Buchner isn't an early entrant and is the starter for the next three seasons, I'm not positive he was going to make it through to 2025 as a backup without transferring either

This is what we call the ACCEPTANCE stage

Healthy position to be in over the next 2 seasons with only one QB on the entire roster that has the upside to be elite...

Buchner better be good or it's really gonna fuck with our good vibes here. I realize the transfer portal is a solid bailout plan if things don't work out, but still.

I get that ND is all onboard with Carr reclassifying if the Dante ship has sailed. We think the tea leaves are reading that Carr is likely willing to do that? I've heard he's taking summer classes and everything, but seems like there are still doubts that that's what he and his family want. Not sure if that's been dispelled and those public statements were more of an attempt at trying to salvage the Dante recruitment and that all signs are pointing towards him reclassifying (and I just may have missed it).

For NBC to break the “no ND alum rule” for him is terrible.

As far as Flores goes, I think it’s clear the kid has wanted Ohio State from the start. So if they’re gonna pass on him, he now needs to figure out whether he actually wants to be at one of his secondary options. Can’t blame him.
