I don't know if Cam is going to drive the ball well enough, and I would tend to pick him more on courses with lots of short grass surrounding greens. I would look at guys that are great iron players that in other spots might be held back by their putters. Hovland, Max, Collin. I also think Lowery could be a good play. He can grind out a good round when scores are higher and there is a lot of rough
It would be sweet if the Saudi bitches got boo'ed loudly all day/every day but I doubt that happens. Guessing it'll be normal reactions.
Hoping for just muted receptions I would enjoy Phil teeing off at one to nothing no claps, cheers or boos.
I mean I get what you're saying but that's all the media wants to talk about. I'm sure all the players are annoyed by getting asked about it non-stop.
Bet Jt Burns Finau All to win and be top American Rory to win and be top Euro Mito top 20 Have old Scotty and Cam tickets at mid 30s. Fucking love the majors.
I’m not the biggest Brooks guy, but I don’t read that as Brooks getting triggered or bothered he’s not the center of attention? i think it’s more just dismissive of the LIV and he wants to talk US open, which I tend to agree with. It’s essentially an exhibition match, why should he have to comment on it this week? Seems like he’s said a good bit on the topic already.
Watching Golf Channel US Open coverage all morning - I got tired of the LIV stuff as well. I get why it’s is the topic, but I also want to hear about what seems like a wide open major tourney.
Definitely understand Brooks being tired of it and don’t need every golfer’s opinion on it because it’s tiresome. BUT ALSO
I think the most interesting thing about LIV is how sharp will these guys games be when they step away from the guaranteed payouts and the handful of Asia tour events that probably are worse than a KFT event strength of field. We won't see the impact probably in 2022 so much, but are these guys grinding to sharpen their skills like they would if they missed a few cuts in a row?
Rahm was very impressive. His $ comments were spot on and why I hold the LIV thing against DJ. And a good understanding of legacy Rory - esque I thought.
Can we talk actual golf in here or just PGA/LIV fights? Looking at a set of Titleist T300s on Facebook Marketplace which just makes me cringe, but the deal is decent. Can anyone who knows anything about irons tell me if there's something I'm missing? I've compared all the pics and crap to real pics and can't see any big red flags.
I’m trying to qualify (or even understand) your opinion on the quality of Doak’s work. That’s all. You said he’s the one that people are most likely to bitch about his work. From the other posters itt it seems like people take issue with Doak as a person and not with the courses he’s designed.
Would really weaken the LIV product if guys like Richard Bland start winning a bunch vs the big names they’re bribing to come over. Of course a $4M first prize each week should keep guys interested but I think it’s safe to say DJ and Phil have little interest in the grind anymore.
I respect this for two reasons...1) what he actually said that matters to him re: PGA Tour and why. 2) remember, he is an ASU guy who was coached by Phil's brother in college. Phil looked after him and no doubt was an influence on him while at ASU as well as his first years on Tour. I imagine that it's not a small thing for him to very publicly be on the opposite side of the Mickelson camp on this. Both have drawn their lines in the sand on this and it would have been easy and very lucrative for Jon to go the LIV route but he didn't and he's got my respect for that.
People shit on his work pretty openly I think, Pacific Dunes being the main example that comes to mind. Even some of the NLU guys talk about how much they dislike it; same with them rehashing the Loop from Michigan Tourist Sauce. I had a Bandon caddie refer to him as Tom Joke because of how he tricks up his courses as we were playing Pac as well
I haven't bought new irons in forever. I remember back in the day, forgeries were everywhere. I assume that's less the case now, but you never know... right?
I always thought criticism of Doak re Pac Dunes was with his own ranking of it, a 10 on his scale. I've never been to Bandon so can't comment on that.
Personally I'd be more concerned about ebay than a local pickup on Facebook market place. Who knows though.
If anything I could generally be accused of recycling takes from Shotgun Start/Fried Egg but that wouldn't be the case here because Andy is very pro-Doak. (Andy raves about the Loop while all of NLU shit on it) If anything (and let me be clear - I am not anti) my thinking is from listening to his own words on his interviews. Lastly, of the new age architects that are all width/angles/short grass/etc he is probably the most penal in his designs and he admits that. He has had high handicappers tell him that they don't want to be babied from the forward tees. IrishLax stated it best overall on the last page
#ForksUp LIV guys PP Phil Matt Jones PGA Tour Rahm Chez TBD: Paul Casey - would guess LIV advantage: PGA Tour
think he now hosts a radio show in central Arkansas and is basically a hippy that smokes himself silly every day
He's been out of central Arkansas for at least 3-4 years, think he's in the ft smith area smoking the dope now.
Every time some major off-field event occurs in sporting events there will always be some dumb player that goes after the media when they get asked too many uncomfortable questions. As if LIV and the total disruption of the sport of golf is not the biggest thing going on in the game right now. Brooks gets annoyed because he's not being asked about bombing drives or his smoking hot wife so he lashes out at the reporters. It's so fucking stupid and predictable. He is the exact kind of person that will probably move over to LIV once he knows he can still play majors.
