Seems like the mom already knew what the bracelet was and resents her mom for having sent it. That’s why she’s so overprotective of Kamala
- the guy was in No Way Home. Interrogating Peter, MJ and Ned - the woman was in OITNB played the former assistant to the Warden
Yeah they crushed this casting, and this is her first on screen acting role as well. Used some of the most recent Avengers video game story as part of this episode. Which I'm sure it was in a comic series first.
Using the block R for the butt rock thread makes sense. This thread on the other hand, I don’t get. Also, we invented college football. You’re welcome.
Nice. Did not know that. I retract my earlier statement. Except for the inventing college football part.
I’m not the target demo but I did heavily enjoy the environmental graphics and goofy Easter eggs like Cap’s Ass. I’ve seen the overprotective mom motif too much lately and they aren’t doing it better than Turning Red so that has me on the fence.
Was boring but it’s not for me. My 10yr old sat through it without whining and trying to watch annoying YouTube videos so that’s nice.
A lot of echoing from me. Intro was top notch. Dig the animation graphics in the background. The mom was already under my skin from The Big Sick so I don’t know how I feel about her. The did the extension-hand thingy when she caught that girl and I think that’d be a cool little twist to her powers, she can change shape but the extensions shatter after a few seconds. Didn’t wait to see if there was a post credit scene. Hoping when they explain the bands they say they’re “terrigen bands” or something. A cool way to introduce an inhuman without opening the floodgate (I need Daisy back in my life though). We’re mostly the exact opposite of their target demographic so I’m not expecting much. Hopefully Brie makes a cameo and the little girl goes bananas at some point. I like KK as a quirky little side character, like an audience surrogate, for projects moving forward. Like, Black Knight and Loki stand in front of the heroes going over the plan to attack Kang in multiple times and dimensions and they cut to KK whispering to Lang “will you ask Wasp if she’ll be in a TikTok with me?” “I’ll be in a TikTok with you…”. “Oh cool, but could you please ask Wasp first?”
Gotta say. I’m pretty damn triggered that the TYFYS wall didn’t have pictures of Cap or Vision. Just awful Fucking execution by Avenger-Con.
Yeah, I don't see myself getting too much into this. Might just wait until the end and binge through, if anything. I'm not really a "teenager coming of age" story guy at this point. It's part of why I'm generally not as big of a Spiderman movie fan. This is 6 episodes with more of that kind of stuff than a movie would have. Nothing against the show or anything. Hopefully it works for the intended audience since it's got some importance in various demos that need this kind of thing. Just not my thing.
It’s not that interesting so far. They need to focus more on the main character than her family and all the supporting characters. Same problem they had with Moon Knight. Watching the show for the Marvel character.
Powers are pretty cool. Environmental graphics (her texting Kamran in her bed, eg) continue to be awesome.
I’m really enjoying it; I was in Arabic school for about 15 months so I’ve been cackling at a lot of the go-to Arab/Farsi/Urdu phrases used in the show.
Kamala’s Dad casually explaining to Bruno that “djinns” are the Genies of middle-eastern legend was cool
Shit. I didn’t even make the Jersey City - Brown Jovi connection until rewatch. Feel like a damn idiot now.
Forgot the new episode dropped. Chuckled when Kamala’s grandmother just casually dropped being a Djinn was simple genetics
I’ve been enjoying this series much more than I thought I would. Obviously, I don’t love the parts that are for 13 year olds, but I love the deep dive into Pakistani culture and the fact that Disney is pushing the envelope to give us something very different from the other series. As far as this week’s episode, the wedding was just great. It made me mad that it was disrupted by the bad guys. They’ve been here for 100 years or so and they couldn’t wait 2 more hours? It also didn’t fit their mo of being covert and blending in. I wish they would have put more effort into setting up that scene.
common Disney+ problem - 6 episodes are too Short to tell a coherent story, leading to a rushed ending.
This is probably fine at 6. The real villain is Damage Control right? The Clandestine stuff was a little too much and could have been sorted with some conversation. Those fight scenes went too long.
One thing I’m holding out for. When they tried going through that portal and dusted out, it was the exact same CGI that they used in AoS for terrogenesis. We might get some inhumans after all.
