The names I keep seeing are EJ Liddell Ohio St Tari Easton LSU Walker Kessler Auburn Blake Wesley Notre Dame (if Zach leaves)
Everyone's potential success depends on where they land to at least some degree. I think Banchero's success (at least in years 1-3) depends the least on situation compared to Smith and Holmgren. Unless he goes somewhere that just makes him stand in a corner and only shoot threes, he can succeed just about anywhere.
don't like Banchero's fit in Houston...he's probably gonna be better than Tate and KMjr, but they have Wood and Sengun too so minutes will be interesting.
Christian Wood is a 26 year old headcase. You don't skip someone in the draft because you have Wood, you trade Wood
Yeah, i hear a fair amount about fit down here, too, especially w/r/t with Sengun. But this should be Wood's last season in houston and he may even be traded during the season.
I'm not saying you skip him, just curious to see what the rotations look like and if they'll fit or not
Idk how it holds up defensively, probably like absolute dogshit, but Sengun and Banchero seem like they could coexist on offense
I'm more concerned with the off court stuff than on. If Houston goes into the season with Porter and Wood on the roster next to Green and whomever they pick, their entire front office should all be shot into the sun. Take Porter and Wood out of the equation and any of those three could do very well there.
I kinda love that the nba draft follows so closely behind the end of the finals. Then free agency opens and you’re getting ready for camp. The least exciting time of the year might be between the first 5 games and Christmas, when the season is a slog and you realize teams aren’t fully baked.
Maybe it's just me being pessimistic about Ivey getting to 5, but I think Sacramento is trading out for a vet and later lotto pick. Something like Dort + 12 + some future picks. Seems like there's a weird amount of smoke about Ivey and OKC considering Presti is known as someone who doesn't let anything get out.
I legitimately don't believe anything that is mentioned with OKC, they just don't leak anything. Last year everyone was positive we were taking Bouknight. Giddey wasn't on our radar at all, don't think a single mock had that one figured out. I would be over the moon if we managed to make some type of deal to get to 4 as long as it doesn't cost us Giddey or SGA, but I'm pretty skeptical, unless Sacramento has some plan for all these future picks they'd be getting.
Rumor is that the Knicks are trying to trade up to 4, but the rumor asking price from the Kings is too steep.
Something about Banchero screams Julius Randle type where he will probably put up very solid numbers on a bad team but won't ever win shit.
Who says no (not rumored anywhere and completely made up by me)... SAC gets: Dort, Grant OKC gets: #4 pick DET gets: Barnes, #12 I have no clue what Barnes' trade value is, but given SAC has been in on Grant for a while now I'm guessing they prefer him to Barnes. OKC wins that deal because it gets Ivey and probably needs to chip in a future 1 to SAC or something. Detroit does probably too well for Grant, but within its asking price. I think SAC loses that deal out of the three, but all the talk seems to be that they prefer vets to picking someone at 4.
Thinking about it more, I think Sacramento is better off dealing Barnes for a pick somewhere else, and I think OKC throws in a couple picks (either two to SAC, or one good one to SAC and then maybe give DET its future protected 1 back that's not that valuable to OKC but significant for DET). Barnes could probably get SAC a pick in the 20s, at least. Maybe better.
I have no clue who this guy is or if he has any clue what he's talking about with scouting the prospects, but I saw a couple of these over the last week and they seem like the closest I've seen to those awesome scouting vids Draft Express used to do before they went to ESPN and stopped doing the thing everyone liked. https://www.youtube.com/c/AdamSpinella/videos
Can't wait to watch gas station surveillance footage level clips of Shaedon Sharpe destroying suburban 16 year olds
I don't think there is historical precedent for players with names as badass sounding as Shaedon Sharpe and Dyson Daniels failing. Name power alone with carry those two to success in the league.
Peyton’s model has Kessler 6th and Banchero and Ivey in the double digits. Statistical models are really valuable tools but Alex Len Jr should not go 6th
I keep seeing Sochan around the top 10 and am wondering if his clear links to organized gambling revealed in the UNC game were ever resolved
I’m no Sam Vecini or Chad Ford but I don’t see him any better than a 3rd Center / 10th guy on the roster type player unless the 3 ever comes I’m sure statistical models are friendly bc he benefitted playing next to Jabari
I just didn’t think he looked nearly athletic enough to stay on the floor in the an NBA game, but I also don’t get paid $6 million to evaluate nba players.
As a blazer fan that heard the same arguments for taking Oden over KD…. You should hope they take Chet.
Kessler is a very good shot blocker and is more athletic than you think (he's just slow). He also doesn't need to ball to impact the game with his defense and rebounding. On offense he is good in the lob game but that's about it... he is a poor shooter and not sure that is going to come around. Not totally sold on him developing much offensively. All that being said, he is still a slow footed big and someone that is going to be hard pressed to play major minutes in a playoff series. But he may be a useful big man off the bench- I think there is still some value to that at the end of the first or early second. Jabari is the truth though. I think he will be an all-star level player, maybe more. I would take him #1 and not think twice. Do we have any Marquette fans on here? Never saw Justin Lewis play but his stats and measurables are really intriguing. He kinda jumps off the page to me as a second round guy that has a lot of potential and good be a nice player in 2-3 years.
