Apparently Kyle Hamilton dad was on campus to help recruit last week and left a big impression. Pretty cool particularly in light of how some of the fan base reacted to his son sitting out.
After the Jaylon situation, how can ND fans in particular criticize players for making that move? Blows my mind.
It’s insanity. But those two were still the first two in ND history to sit out a “major” bowl game and people thought “nd student athletes were above that!” Totally overlooking what happened the last time we played in that particular major bowl game, like you said.
Jaylon not getting injured, going in the top 5, and going to 5+ pro bowls would have done infinitely more for ND than him playing the full game against OSU and keeping it more respectable. And that's just looking at the one-sided selfish perspective, let alone actually caring about the guys that come through our program.
That's what I was about to say, feel like a lot of people were frustrated about the mixed messaging at the end of the year when it seemed he was probably healthy enough to play. I do agree it was the right decision though.
Would have been mildly upset with Kyle if we looked like we were going to make the playoffs and somehow a 12-1 Cinci or Big 12 champion still made it in over us because they viewed us as a team with no coach and without our best player, but even then I understand the business decision
I’m well aware, but I’ve heard that rumble, Offense played fine so we didn’t need Kyren, and Kyle would have kept the secondary from falling apart. Didn’t say it’s smart but I’ve absolutely heard it from the “scholarships are payment enough” crowd
There's a lot more to the Kyle Hamilton drama from a lot of different sources. Guess there was some divide in the locker room on him being able to play the regular season and not doing so then telling teammates if y'all make it to the playoffs ill play. Also being a shitty host to recruits. Now idk whats true and whats not but just saying its because he sat out the bowl game isn't telling the whole tale. there's a lot to this. I have no connection to Kyle Hamilton at all but do live about 7 miles from his home town. Heard a lot of shit but who knows. Ive always been quick to defend him, I have a Kyle Hamilton hoodie ffs, but yea not great.
They say after awhile the players take on the personality characteristics of the head coach. That seemed to be the case with Kyle. And there’s nothing necessarily wrong with that. Kid just saw everything as a business decision.
yeah I’m gonna criticize anyone on the roster for not recruiting hard enough while playing for Brian Kelly
Young is there by himself, right? Freeman is pulling out everything to give this kid all the personal attention.
I also sometimes forget that I have a beach less than a mile from my condo in Detroit. Hope you guys stayed cool today, shit was hot
Lol, listening to the cover 3 pod where they drafted coaches. Al washington was the nr2 position coach drafted in total, felt like a bit of a shocker to me
Assume this isn't anything? At least will feel good to finish third for a recruit we wouldn't have finished top 10 with last year. If we spend all this time with elite long-shots, and get just 1 or 2 in a three year period, we're a much better team
Staff is trying to get the three WR targets committed before next weekend so they don’t need the Flores visit. edit: that came off as if I’m saying Flores isn’t good. didn’t mean it that way at all. he good.
oh stop It, we get it just kidding, but we all know you are the school for wrs. If he is borderline for osu he is a good take for nd and you never know how they can pan out.
Spoiler As they did last week, the Notre Dame coaching staff will once again host plenty of talent on campus in South Bend this weekend. There are a couple of very important uncommitted prospects taking an official visit to check out the Fighting Irish. Here is your breakdown. Four-star WR Jaden Greathouse — Notre Dame is hosting Austin (Texas) Westlake four-star receiver Jaden Greathouse for an official this weekend. Can receivers coach Chansi Stuckey pull off the big win and land him soon or will he run his recruitment into the fall? The Irish are hoping to get this one done sooner rather than later, but we’ll see if schools like Texas and South Carolina can keep him from pulling the trigger. My pick is on Notre Dame. Four-star CB Micah Bell — My 247Sports Crystal Ball is on Notre Dame to land Houston (Texas) Kinkaid School four-star cornerback Micah Bell. The 5-11, 160-pounder visits this weekend and the Irish badly want to land the Top150 talent, who possesses a ton of speed. Will he end up Irish on July 1 when he commits? I think so. Four-star CB Jasiah Wagoner — Notre Dame is still looking at cornerbacks this cycle and there aren’t many better than Spanaway (Wash.) Lake high school four-star Jasiah Wagoner. His first visit to Notre Dame needs to go extremely well if cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens is going to make a move here. Keep an eye on Texas, Cal, Oklahoma, Penn State and Oregon as well, but recent intel suggests that the Irish will be battling the Longhorns here. Four-star RB Jeremiyah Love — Notre Dame is stoked to host St. Louis (Mo.) Christian Brothers College Top100 four-star running back Jeremiyah Love. This could be another Notre Dame-Michigan battle, but Alabama is in there as well. The Irish are hoping to impress him this weekend and that usually isn’t all that difficult for running backs coach Deland McCullough. We’ll know a lot about his recruitment in the coming days. Three-star OL Joe Otting — Topeka (Kan.) Hayden three-star offensive lineman Joe Otting returns to campus fresh off a June 7 commitment to Notre Dame. The staff is excited to spend more time with their future center. Four-star DL Boubacar Traore — West Roxbury (Mass.) Catholic Memorial four-star defensive lineman Boubacar Traore took an unofficial visit to Boston College last week with some friends, but he told the Notre Dame staff he was headed there and has made it clear he’ll be signing with Notre Dame. We’ll see how things go this weekend, but the Top150 prospect does seem solid in his pledge to the Irish. Four-star TE Cooper Flanagan — Concord (Calif.) De La Salle four-star tight end Cooper Flanagan has been committed to Notre Dame since Sept. 2. From all accounts, he’s firm in his pledge and has hit it off with new tight ends coach Gerad Parker. Alabama and others are pushing, but he seems fully committed. Four-star DL Brenan Vernon — Mentor (Ohio) high school four-star defensive lineman Brenan Vernon is locked in with his pledge to Notre Dame. The Irish staff has zero concerns about the No. 99 overall player in the country sticking with his commitment. 7COMMENTS Four-star OT Charles Jagusah: On Sunday, Rock Island (Ill.) Allen four-star offensive tackle Charles Jagusah makes his way to campus for his official visit. The rest of the visitors will get started on Friday. All eyes are on Notre Dame and Michigan at this point. All of our intel suggests the Fighting Irish have the edge here, but we’ll see if that holds up. The No. 55 overall player in the country is heading to Michigan right before Notre Dame, so we could know where he’s headed shortly after these two trips.
Can someone help me out on why we let Irvin go if Love is a battle? Obviously Limar committed but was Love just not interested if we had 2 RBs? I'm a little surprised they didn't wait for the 2nd RB to commit before letting Irvin go, cuz it'll seem odd if we end up with just Limar I thought Love was essentially a done deal, but it seems like a battle (and I'm not assuming we even have a shot at Young)
I think the staff expects a greater than 75% chance we get at least one of Love/Young. And based on today’s update, we seemingly have way more of a shot with Young than anyone wants to believe.
I think they feel pretty good about Love at this point. Michigan thinks of him as a long shot per our favorite, EJ Holland
Y’all need to understand these sites sell copium for clicks- ND basically traded Payne for Irvin which was Deland’s call. #staygrounded also I really like both CB’s visiting this weekend
luckily we have stanford to deflect from our shame, probably because they were looking for a merlot tasting challenge
When i have gone north to palo alto for games ive unironically seen tailgates where it seems it was just wine, charcuterie boards, and an alexa playing classical music (was not the norm but saw two or three like this over my years)
