Hench came on and fired off all sorts of reasonable takes that Russillo has either been too pussy to make or is too big of a homer to make - a healthy Middleton and the Celtics lose in 5 - Smart winning DPOY was a total joke meanwhile Bill thinks the 4 Tatum airballs were excusable because he was tired. Poor guy :(
well he did bust out his time honored tradition of blaming any Curry bad game on him being hurt, so it's a luxury he affords to all players he dickrides, not just Celtics
it was a highly disappointing episode was really looking forward to a meltdown on the drive in to work today and i didnt get it
Was shocked how reasonable Hench was but he still peppered in some usual Boston homer babble ("The Giants were holding on the helmet catch! Perkins was injured for game 7!") Loved how Bill said the Celtics bench was super fired up and engaged in the 3rd quarter and it must've been because Udoka gave a great halftime speech. As opposed to ya know, hitting a million 3's in a row to start the quarter. This is what happens when you learn sports from movies instead of actually playing them. also Bill legitimately believes in reverse jinxes and this episode was just one giant one
I started reading Simmons 20+ years ago and eventually you realize all his buddies that he used to reference as regular guys are in the business. An industry plant so to speak.
Couldn’t agree more with Woz’s take on skipping pods with current NBA employees as guests. I couldn’t care less what David Griffin has to say about anything. Everything he says is GM-speak and not his real thoughts.
Agree. I skipped over that to the Financial guy Faber and Life Advice. Life Advice with those three is good. Next to the Rewatcheables and Big Picture Movie Draft, Life Advice is my favorite party of their pods.
This has been my thought about player/coach guests on podcasts for a long time. JJ Redick seems to get nba guys to say interesting stuff but that's pretty much it
idk if anyone noticed but from some pod last week Bill took credit for that type of interview that Redick (former Ringer employee) does now, based on some pod from 2017 with Durant which i didn't listen to, because i don't listen to player/coach interviews "no one had ever heard something like that" was roughly his assessment of it
The guy who has identified Peyton Pritchard as his de facto son was the show runner for Last Man Standing. That’s good shit.
I am so torn between getting a game 7 on Sunday night with the day off Monday and the risk of the Celtics winning it all
Just in general I can't ever buy the excuse of being tired when you're a 24 year old professional athlete that's getting 3 days off between games. Shit Al Horford's old ass shouldn't even be tired with these breaks. It's not like this is a college tournament where you're playing 4 games in 4 days.
the way they play basketball is significantly different than the way you have ever played basketball also 6 hour cross country flights aren't conducive to rest
I’m sure we’ll hear nothing about Celtics fans leaving with 3 minutes left like we did for a decade about the Heat fans.
Simmons/Russillo pod going to start with a 25 minute discussion on the draft, followed by 20 minutes of fake Kyrie/Rudy trades.
plus 10 mins of “what would have this series been like if Tatum didn’t get a stinger 4.5 weeks ago?!”
All time ass kissing performance by House tonight, you’d have thought Boston lost a super competitive 7 game series at the buzzer with the way he spins everything as a positive for Boston. I get that the Wizards have never really won shit but goddamn show some testicular fortitude House. also Bill doesn’t get to brand himself as the ultimate Steph believer when he said Dame was better at one point
between the house and hench appearances it was real easy to see to which one has bill sign their checks
