baseball, football & hockey/basketball all next to each other. I grew up 2 blocks away and loved it but it’s crazy.
Media markets selected: NYC 1 LA 2 Philly 4 Dallas 5 Bay Area 6 Atlanta 7 Houston 8 New England 10 Seattle 12 Miami 18 KC 34 Size doesn’t matter when you’re the… Spoiler
So apparently DC withdrew their bid in April due to stadium issues? Makes people being upset about it even more comical.
I think that’s when they changed their bid and tried to join up with Baltimore to use the Ravens stadium.
Using media markets to choose World Cup sites seems dumb. All the games are going to sell out and be watched wherever they go.
No, shit ass FedEx Field was withdrawn. DC was still in on a joint bid with Baltimore at the Ravens stadium.
Yep the fan fare shit was going to be in DC and the matches played in Baltimore. I saw something that public transportation was an issue but I'm not sure why. People could have just taken the Marc from Union Station into Baltimore. I guess public transportation in Baltimore is definitely lacking but I don't see many people venturing away from M&T and the Harbor so idk.
bc they didn’t have a choice . we do. we have around 7 modern climate controlled NFL domes and a large region with more favorable weather in July. I would have awarded a bid to every dome and gave Western cities bids. avoid any host where you need stoppage in play for water breaks except KC bc their soccer hub status
really just a reflection of Europe not needing them and South America not having the money for them. No reason not to play in the venues that offer the best experience for fans and players (which obviously also means sorting out the turf issue)
there’s more than enough venues that aren’t domes that can host. Playing in domes would be dumb as hell
Say Canada and Mexico weren’t involved. What would our 5 extra cities be?? Denver Nashville DC/Baltimore Phoenix ????
Seems like you could just use the cities that were finalists but not chosen Cincinnati Denver Nashville DC/Baltimore Orlando
Phoenix didn’t want to host. Too much of a burden from FIFA with other demands or something that they didn’t want to pay for. Probably Vegas.
I didn’t expect this reaction to using modern domes . I guess people enjoy sweating their ass off. understand not liking it for Baseball but not neutral site futbol or football
Dallas is the only one without a retractable roof. But its not like the Silverdome lacked quality matches in 1994.
I live in Mississippi and have worked/watched numerous games down there. I’m not anti dome, I’m anti soccer in domes.
This is the biggest thing for me. Would be shit if they attempted it on turf it even if the grass was shit.
It's been covered already. All the stadiums that have turf are putting in grass months in advance, in order for it to bind together
SoFi is in Inglewood, a relevant distinction if you’re trying to make some dumb argument that New York’s proximity makes MetLife a better option
