its impressive how basically everyone who was big in the anti-religion space became huge reactionaries in general before even getting into that in retrospect half of it was cover for just being Islamophobic (Sam Harris being the most notable one)
yeah hes been islamophobic regularly, calls himself a feminist while sharing misogynist bits, and does the "just asking questions" about trans issues in a terf fashion that is common in england he's a strange person in general so a lot of it gets excused. definitely not as transparently awful as the Harris/Maher/Ali gang with where ole Hitch was at the time he died i'd probably include him there too but can't be certain
Your encyclopedic knowledge of the problematic aspects of every public figure is always impressive to me
This is what Buttigieg was referring to when he said the phrase “racist highways” and got mocked. But he is right, and this is one example. thanks for sharing!
I can't imagine why a guy who has spent his whole career crafting an anti-religion platform would have negative things to say about one of the world's most popular religions
Think a lot of young comedians are anti establishment but then later in life they become the establishment but retain that sarcasm so it becomes just punching down
same, he was pretty much my only news source back in the mid 2000s but somewhere around that ben affleck interview where he said all muslims are bad is where I started to really notice a tonal shift and stopped watching and then he gave a platform to Milo and that gang
I’m old enough to remember when he got canceled back after September 11th when he said it was our international policy that caused it and we should consider it rather than blaming Muslims.
Right, he was cancelled (literally, from network television) for saying it takes courage to fly a plane into a building
Well, the tone of your message suggests too many. I don't know twitter rules for TMB. I post to provide content , sometimes hot takes , and harvest likes
I've been a non-believer since I was a kid, but the hardo atheists have always been kinda cringe to me.
it also seems crazy in a not good way that they’re winning these elections against complete bonkers alternatives. The center right is being wiped out as a political force anywhere.
Sounds like their average voter is several times smarter than ours if they're defeating far-right psychos with socialists.
Walker has always been a horrible human. Him being close to an actual black hero is Uncle Tomming at its finest.
If Lula beats Bolsonaro in October the entire continent will have gone Left. Like the reforms Chile has done with their 30 something President Hernandez conceded
Must be nice to live in that secure of a bubble that you aren’t aware of the federal reserve bailing out Wall Street.
Dawkins is awful. The only one of the big new atheists guys that I can think of that isn’t just totally embarrassing is Daniel Dennett. If he embarrassed himself like the others, I’ve missed it.
Had to turn this off as soon as Maher said “they got more than we spent in ww2” holy shit I cannot wait for him to die a hopefully slow and painful death
Geez I hope bill and sam don’t find out about the current state of the evangelical and catholic movements in America. That would stink for them.
This is obviously the tweet of someone who doesn't understand the difficulties of running in gerrymandered districts. I ran in a non competitive state house seat 2x to carry the torch for Democrats. I did so to reach and turn out voters that statewide and national campaigns wouldn't. Campaigns like that helped flip GA in 2020. We need to contest every seat. Having said that, folks need to understand what they are asking of candidates. It's physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially draining on yourself and your family. Raising funds is incredibly difficult unless you are challenging an infamous incumbent - eg: Marcus Flowers challenging MTG in GA CD14. Volunteers are there, but not nearly like what you'll find in competitive races. You'll get little support from liberal and left leaning organizations during the race. Endorsements take more work and are harder to get because influencers like to endorse people they feel like will win. It's a thankless grind with little reward at the end for the majority of candidates. If you are tweeting stuff like this, you better make sure you've put in the work to run or supported those that have. /rant
His explanation is that he's not gay, he just likes fucking men. And, no, I'm not joking. I could foresee this becoming more common with gay conservatives. It's a way to separate themselves from the LGBT community while still being open about their lifestyle.
Starts at 2 minutes. I honestly feel bad for the kid. He likes men but hates gay people? I can't help but think family pressure has him all fucked up. Walker responded: ““Don’t call—Don’t put that ghetto g-word on me. I just like masculine men. I’m not a—I don’t wanna be lumped in with the rainbow people,” he said. “Gay conserv—I’m not a gay conservative. I’m a conservative who likes men.”
these are some highlights of a much longer stream and even these short 9 minutes will make you want to kill him
