Are they all victims of sexual assault though? Or have they all had sexual relations with him and have an opportunity to make money?
I was 100% positive who would be the poster that started us down that route, and my guess was correct
Texans fans now believe it should be at least a two year suspension with a league option of a third based on the outcome of the last four cases.
Zeke got 6 games for an alleged incident, so why not use that precedent... 144 games sounds about right
I read this exact same defense when the barstool guy got accused by multiple women. Consistently is key I guess
Don't know much about sexual assault/rape cases. But wouldn't these women who settled, stand to make more money if they have the facts/info that they were assaulted and he was found guilty? Why settle and accept the money if you were truly assaulted? Easy answer is it is a quick 100k and the justice system is shady, but wouldn't they make more than that? I guess we will find out with the remaining 4 women.
I'd imagine if you're a victim of sexual assault, having to relive it through an extremely publicized trial isn't something you'd be excited about.
Absolutely understand that. But wouldn't you want your side of the story heard, also? To shine light on this situation to possibly help others come forward. Clearly I haven't been in this situation, so I can't imagine.
Watson is extremely rich and has talented teams of lawyers and public relations at his disposal. you'd be pretty naive if you thought you were going to get a fair chance to tell your story as a victim in this situation imo.
I think that ultimately that comes down to the individual victim and 4 of them seem to agree with what you’re saying but 20 do not
It’s unbelievable that after that article came out that involved 66 women many of which aren’t suing Watson we STILL to this day have mother fuckers defending him. Does football mean that much to you? That you would debase yourself for this piece of shit? Just embarrassing stuff
They are going to burn it all down. The NFLPA plans to "vigorously" defend Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson when the league eventually hands down a suspension for his sexual assault allegations. According to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, the NFLPA plans to use treatment against multiple owners as their case. The NFLPA plans to use Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder, Patriots owner Robert Kraft, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones as examples for lesser punishments when discussing sexual misconduct throughout the league. The argument will be that these owners are held to a higher standard, therefore, Watson should not be subject to a harsher discipline. https://www.si.com/nfl/steelers/.amp/news/punishment-team-owners-deshaun-watson-suspension
Random take that nobody asked for: Like 11 or so years ago when I lived in LA I worked at a bar and was sexually harassed a lot. Groped by the manager multiple times. All the male bartenders were. Gay or straight. Some were even documenting it just in case (I’m still friends and follow numerous people from this time and to my knowledge no one has ever reported it, and looking at the manager’s IG account it looks like he’s still living big and has opened some other big spots). It was a gay bar. Groped by customers too but usually falling over drunk types who had no idea where they were or who they were even groping. Never felt in danger or anything but I hated it. Thing is, the money was so good. I had moved out there on my own, with only a small amount saved from college. Parents paid my rent and food and allowance in college And I didn’t want any more money from them. So the money at this spot was crucial to that goal and friends I had there were like my family for those first couple of years. The manager groping me was a “friend”. Eventually, as soon as a felt like I had a huge safety net of money, I quit and the harassment was a big reason why. But was still on friendly terms with the manager. I feel like Deshaun def solicited prostitution from these women. They probably accepted bc, well I mean shit look how god awful the economy is. Very few working class jobs pay a livable wage in any of the big cities any more. Either way I’m sure they hated it. Not only is it gross and demeaning, and depending on what went down, maybe much, much worse. I don’t care if they took the money and did it and I don’t care if they see this as another opportunity to get more money. I hope they do what whatever is best for them. Get as much money as they can. And the women who haven’t settled yet, I feel the same. Whether they are holding out for more money or if they just can’t settle themselves with what happened (even if they took money for whatever it is he asked them to do). Tell the public and let a jury of their peers decide. I have no problem with prostitution, but as long as it’s illegal, soliciting it from someone is fucking shitty. It puts them in jeopardy with the law. I don’t even care if the women were about it. We live in a really horrible economic time. So many people are desperate for money. Like I was. I’m not going to blame a working class person for being exploited by a rich person. Even if they agreed to the initial terms. What he did was illegal and I hope these women exploit him for as much as they can. But also, if he pays everyone out and they accept the money, I won’t feel overly angry if he ends up playing again one day even though I will never ever like or root for the guy (and I had no issue with him before all this). Although all this shit alone should mean he gets suspended. If he isn’t suspending that would be disgusting. obviously if he did worse than what I think took place and what has been reported (to my knowledge) then fuck whether he plays again or not, I hope he goes to fucking prison. Im not really arguing with anyone here im just venting from what I hear on our home board and what my friends say.
if he was offering 100k it is likely some of those cases settled for more, if not all of them. the one thing we can all agree on is that we are happy the lawyers made money during this ordeal
