One thing I don’t get about tennis. Just like baseball with the sign stealing, I think they should punish the dumb teams tipping themselves off. With technology today I don’t see how you prevent it. why are you opposed? I’m not looking to argue with people, I’m just curious.
I personally don’t think off court coaching is a big deal. I’d rather they just let the coach on the court and fit it into a change over. My only issue here is this can start slowing play down. But these guys should be able to leverage their coaches. Just my 2 cents.
I just think it takes away something that's at the core of the sport. It's man vs. man, woman vs. woman. Two players on the court at the same time, adjusting on the fly. Noticing and taking advantage of openings while trying to limit those of their own. Problem-solving. The ability to think and process information while also doing extremely athletic things physically. Players have their coaches with them 24/7, 365. All that time in practice and pre-match prep should be more than enough. Once you hit the court, it should just be on you. I don't want players looking up at their box to get a pointer on where to serve in a big point. I want the player to come up with that themselves. That's how you grow and develop as a talent into a champion. Simply put --- I want Stefanos Tsitsipas deciding matches, not Aspotolos Tsitsipas.
If it was any other female player that hadn't played a competitive match in a year, I'd agree with you. Anyone else. But she's made fools of everyone in the past, more than once.
Anyone watch a lot of tennis channel? Just here to say that song on the Disney commercial makes my ears bleed and my eyes see blood. It’s fucking maddening, I’ve literally started to mute the television during commercials and I’d rather listen to a soundtrack of Sharapova grunting for an hour.
Not much of a tennis guy other than major semis and finals but just secured tickets to R16 Sunday on Centre Court. If everything breaks the right way could be Murray v Alcaraz.
