I was absolutely not on board with Kenobi vs Vader happening in the Obi Wan series. It's been talked and talked about for months leading up to the release but I'm too much of an old fogey who grew up on the Original Trilogy to be down with it. I really need to start trusting Dave Filoni. Spoiler That fight in the last episode was everything I wanted out of the Episode III fight almost twenty years ago. Great usage of action and dialogue. It didn't last too long that it got boring or repetitive but it also wasn't just a teaser or a little moment just for marketing. It had a great purpose in the story and really bridged the gap between where those two guys were in EPIII and where they'll be in EPIV.
If anyone is not already, it will become insane over time that Filoni and Favrau were not given the Star Wars oversight from the start. They both just completely get it and have clear visions.
True, but Chow worked with them on Mando quite a bit and I think they still had general oversight on the project. I just think the overall Star Wars trajectory would be so different right now had they both been the creative directors for the IP since it came to Disney.
Goddamn that finale was so fucking good. Watched it 4 times so far. The series makes me want to go watch A New Hope. But then the beginning of that makes me want to go watch Rogue One and Rebels. It's all so beautifully interwoven. I love it.
Episode I Episode II Clone Wars Episode III Obi-Wan Rebels Andor Rogue One Episode IV Episode V Shadows of the Empire Episode VI Mandalorian Ahsoka Episode VII Episode VIII Episode IX What a timeline
I mean, all these guys want to do a story in the timeframe they grew up fantasizing about. I don't blame them. I want stories in different eras, too, but I also want the storytellers to be invested in it.
Rebels tying right into Andor tying right into the start of Rogue One tying right into the start of ANH... just stick it in my veins
Started my Clone Wars (yes, corrected order) rewatch. Kind of a dead zone for other TV releases so I can toss that on casually.
“In a galaxy far, far away the Empire is back like cooked crack once again and only yet another orphan Skywalker can save a group of rag tag do nothing democr-I mean the rebel alliance…” fucking just kill me
Finished Shadow of the Sith. As a contained novel - it was pretty good. Book attempts to fill in the gaps and 'fix' the abomination that was The Rise of Skywalker. Picks up with Landos line in the movie about how he and Luke traveled around the galaxy researching the sith ect. It does an admirable job of giving dumb movie choices some depth, but the stench of TROS never really allowed me to get into it as much as I should have Just looking forward to the next High Republic Wave
Thanks for this. Was coming to the thread to ask if anyone finished it yet. Been debating whether to go ahead and start this one or wait till Shadow Hunter: Star Wars Legends (Darth Maul) came out. Was thinking I’d go with Maul first then to Shadow of the Sith. But I don’t know if I can wait till August. Did you get a hard copy or the Audible version? I’ve went back and basically got every available SW book on Audible. Prefer that now. Curious what you thought of the narrator since I haven’t seen him on any other books yet.
I do e-books. I just cant do audiobooks. My mind always starts to wonder and before I know it I miss a chunk and have to go back. Sometimes I'll do audio for non fiction. But just cant for fiction.
I’m usually the same way. But thankfully for a good portion of the SW books, they are narrated by Jonathan Davis or Marc Thompson. And they can bring it to life better than any others I’ve heard. Unfortunately most of the Legends books have awful narrators that ruin the experience. And quite a few are abridged on Audible. So e-book is probably the way to go.
We do them for road trips at times. Characters like Ahsoka or Ventress are voiced by the same actresses as the cartoons. So that’s cool.
Would love to see Bale in Star Wars. Absolutely zero interest in him playing Starkiller though. Isn't that character currently retconned?
I’m hoping someone with SW/Disney is trying to use the new High Republic to do that. Probably wishful thinking but still.
Hell yeah. I’m sure the neckbeards will revolt with the “it has the beats of the original” but take it up with the Bible/Greeks/Joseph Campbell, nerds. I’m just asking for a movie where you can at least imagine a major character being in peril and not knowing they’re fine because of a movie that came out 45 years ago.
Darth Maul “special edition” entrance lol https://www.instagram.com/reel/CgKTxsUOmCz/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
